Gift ideas for team working from home

ProseccoSupernova · 25/09/2020 22:58

What can I buy my team for a small Christmas gift whilst we are all likely to still be working from home?

Initial ideas:
Amazon voucher (dull)
Advent calendar (send early obviously!)
Desk plant

All ideas welcome! All women aged 24-35 apart from two guys aged 30ish! Needs to be something I can post. Budget up to £15pp including post.

I like the desk plant idea, a little cactus in a nice pot. I saw some, weirdly, on the H&M website but it was a two pack so over budget. Can't you just send them a bottle of wine though?!

I really like the desk plant idea. Following for ideas too... I was thinking wine/Prosecco or craft beers for the men in my team or possibly chocolates?

My plan is to Amazon each person a Lindt advent calendar the last week of November.

We are doing this and this

Do you know what they drink? I'd be made up with a bottle of gin.

While an Amazon gift voucher is dull it’s also very useful, especially at the moment and you don’t even need to post it, it can be sent online (text or email) with an animated gift card. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t be happy with this. My sister got me one (she usually buys a selection of “interesting” gifts) and I was over the moon as I could choose what I liked (yes I have a never ending wish list 😂). The fact you’re doing anything is very thoughtful op.

Make it something that'll go through the letterbox so people don't have parcel trouble.

Chocolate always seems like a safe bet, though there are a few chocohaters out there.

CD or DVD would be a maybe.

Chocolate, alcohol or a voucher. I think the advent calendar is lovely - my old boss bought me one about 7 years ago when I lived abroad & was saying how much I missed them, and it was so thoughtful.

Only things that really tick the boxes unless you know them very well & feel confident picking to individual tastes & interests.

I’m that age & wouldn’t just throw a dvd or cd away if I’m honest, I’ve got absolutely no way to play them.

I wouldn't want a desk plant but I like the idea of a Lindt advent calendar.

I like this. I have been thinking about this as I have a few colleagues I would buy a substantial gift for eg spend £30-40 and then there are others in my team I might usually give a small thing to like a bottle of Prosecco or some chocolates was wondering what I will do but Amazon Prime is likely to come in handy!

Maybe something like this?

They are posted straight out and you can pick one for your budget. They have a bit of everything in them.
Loads of company's do similar things.

I vote for posh advent calendar- no long term clutter, but it will make them smile every day for a month

I wouldn’t want an Amazon voucher - I try to buy everything from proper tax-paying shops on the high street.
But I wouldn’t expect a gift from my line manager anyway. I’ve cut Christmas gift giving down to immediate family only when I know what each recipient would like.
Advent calendars are expensive tat.

Could you give them a day (or afternoon) off instead?? I'm sure they'd appreciate time more than voucher, candle, chocolate etc. May not be possible business wise I know...

Before buying chocolate or alcohol gifts, actually stop and think if the recipient likes them. More people are on diets/low sugar/vegan/not drinking, and these gifts can be really unwelcome. I always have to pass chocolate and wine on - and you can't even give wine to the food bank.

I'd much prefer a voucher.

One year I bought each person in my team a book I thought they'd like. That went down well. I did know them all very well though.

I usually get everyone a bottle of prosecco. Very re-giftable, even if they don't like it themselves.

I might do an Amazon voucher this year. Hmm.

I would be most excited by a voucher. Could you do a £10 voucher with a little chocolate treat in there with the £5
