Can anyone recommend a sewing machine for an 11 year old girl?

Looking for a sewing machine that will be easy to use for my dd.

I bought my dd (12) this John Lewis sewing machine for Christmas. She enjoys using it, although inserting the bobbin case is a bit fiddly.

Her friend has a Brother sewing machine, which I think is this one. The drop-down bobbin looks easier, but I'm no expert!

Avoid the hobbycraft midi. Bought 2 last Xmas, one is now broken, the other is just useless. The Brother LS14s is good, plenty of stitches for a beginner, drop in bobbin, and a decent price

Janome are a good brand. I use a Husqvarna Viking, I find it really simple but it wasn't cheap if that is a consideration

I have a Janome 219-S. It’s basic but suits my needs and my 9 and 12 year old use it with ease.

Second the John Lewis one. It comes in lovely colours and I bought it for myself. Mostly very straightforward to use (I’ve never had one before) but it is a proper sewing machine

Another vote for the John Lewis one. DD1 has had a blue one for 4 years since she was 11 and has made all sorts of things.

I too would go for a John Lewis one as it’s made by Janome so your DD will be able to buy the extra feet if she enjoys it

My similar-aged child happily uses this same one. I got a unappealing colour in the sale super cheap

I bought the JL one for myself, as a complete beginner. It was recommended at a ‘learn to sew’ workshop I did, and has been very simple to get to grips with. JL machines are made by Janome, so are really solid, and it’s easy to get attachments for them, as most Janome ones for similar machines fit.

another vote for the JL one - my DD has been using it for a couple of years. Mine is a gorgeous purple colour!
