Lego-when are sales?

Does anyone know if there are any supermarkets or toy shops etc that have lego sets on sale around a similar time each year?

One DC to get a Harry Potter set for and one a Minecraft set.

Thanks!

The times I've had Lego in sale was from Smyth's when the do the £10 off £50 offer. Or sometimes you can get a discount code for John Lewis which used to have a decent selection of Lego.

It will vary from retailer to retailer. There isn't a pattern. New sets are released twice a year. January (although some are released just before Xmas) and July and you often find the January sets starting to be reduced this time of year. Some sets stay available longer (for example a City Train) and be on the shelf for 2 or 3 years so take a long time to be reduced if at all (some are just retired).

There is Lego sales on Black Friday at Lego shop, Smyths, Amazon for example.

I need to get new Lego friends sets and I am hoping for some sort of 20% off/ £10 off £50 at Smyths.
Last year Argos had their Xmas codes where there was 20%off Lego.

It’s difficult At the moment but one thing I noticed is physical shops and department stores like Tesco And Debenhams tend to do decent price drops on LEGO Because I guess they need to make physical space on the shelves

Yy to physical shops - my best Lego bargains have been from Asda, but in store clearance only. Otherwise I’d recommend setting a camel camel alert on amazon with your target price for the sets you want. Amazon do reduce sets from time to time (though usually in response to a promotion elsewhere).

Best thing to do is check regularly and as soon as they go down snap it up! I've seen minecraft Lego go down in Tesco then when I go in a few days later it's back up in price! I managed to snap up the ender dragon set from argos when it went down to something like £16. I think it may be currently in the 2 for 30 offers x

I’m probably stating the obvious, but sign up for mailing lists to anywhere that sells Lego. I have a separate email for this and I can search the inbox for a keyword like Lego to filter through the avalanche.

Set up alerts for specific sets on camelcamel (for Amazon) and price spy for other places.

It’s worth checking other European amazons for price drops, but watch shipping obviously. This Amazon comparison page also lists the RRP which is worth checking if you’re buying elsewhere as bargains are often hyped.

I’m not hopeful there will be a straightforward sale in Smyths this year. Previously it has been where I got the best deals. It may go online, or they may do a series of special offers. I’d definitely sign up for their emails, even if I signed up to nothing else.

The Lego store tend not to give discounts as much as cool gifts when you spend over a certain amount. That can be handy for stocking fillers, or extra gifts.

The Argos 3-4-2 sale is usually price matched on amazon and in john Lewis so if you’re only buying one set it can be better to check their sites then. But in recent years Argos have inflated prices before the sale and I’ve preferred the Smyths sale. I can’t even remember when Argos usually do theirs.

Yeah, argos are a bugger for putting the prices up.
Amazon recently had the Knight bus for £19. Hopefully they will start reducing the summer sets soon.
Watch for Asda as when the first lot of HP came out they did a great deal on a package of the great hall and whomping willow together for £110, saving £50. They might do similar this year.

I bought Lego Hogwarts Express last October for £49. It’s worth putting it in your Amazon basket, setting up a CCC alert and also adding it to an Argos wish list. Then you can see price drops.

Wish I’d seen the Knight Bus for £19! I’ve got that one on watch now
