Best castle for nearly 3 year old?

Would love to buy ds a castle this year. Would like one that isn't a 'toddler' toy so he can still play with it when he's 6/7. I like the look of the Bigjigs King George's castle or maybe a Playmobil one with the small pieces removed? Any thoughts gratefully received, thanks!

The Melissa and Doug wooden castle is fab. We got it when the dc were 1 and 3 and it is still used now and they are 7 and 9. They use playmobil figures but I find the playmobil buildings are frustrating as they fall apart so easily.

Kidkraft ones look good too. Add some schleich or Papo figures or even playmobil and it should extend play for years.

I second Melissa and Doug, so great, lots of hidey rooms and folds away!

We got the early learning one for DS 3 last xmas. Like playmobile but a fraction of the price. No little bits either. 😃

We have the bigger version of Walkley's castle. It has a working draw bridge, dungeon and trapdoor. It is nice and solid.

Do you have this one, @Ricekrispie22? Is the quality good? It looks great for the price.

Holtztiger wooden castle is the absolute best - my 9 yr old will still get it out & play & it has been in out house for a decade but still looks nearly new. Endless rearrangements possible. Link here but didn’t pay anything like this Shock so might be worth looking around

The M&D folding castle is fab too & much easier to store....

No, we don’t have the chad valley castle but we’ve got a chad valley wooden garage and wooden dolls house and both are well built. If this is the same then it’ll be great.

@DoubleGloucester @Ricekrispie22 I got the fairy tale pink version last year and it's been rubbish. Actually quite flimsy because it has to slot together at so many points and it broke easily. It was also difficult to move as would want to come apart. I would avoid though I have been happy with other Chad Valley products. I've kept the figures which are nice.

DS ended up being given 2 castles when he was 3. PiL gave him the Melissa and Doug castle for his birthday and BiL gave him a Playmobil castle for Christmas.
He was never a big fan of the M&D castle (even before he got the Playmobil) but he loved the Playmobil from the moment he opened it.
He's 8 now and the M&D has been languishing in the loft for years but the Playmobil castle is still regularly played with by both DS & DD (3).

Playmobil castle looks like a proper castle and although a good size it can be dismantled easily. It’s very sturdy as well despite numerous battles.

We have the big M&D one. DS1 received it when he was nearly 4, and it still gets played with by himself (nearly 8) and his five year old brother. We have Pappo knights, horses and accessories.
