Animal set for 4 year old girl but not playmobil

My daughter loves animals and likes sets of things to play with but doesn’t play with jungle/farm animal sets ive bought her. She prefers a barbie doll with a dog or similar so She can role play.
I don’t want playmobil as it drives me mad making it but is that the best option?

Sylvanian Families?
To be honest Playmobil doesn't involve much building. You have to put together a few bits when new but thats it. You don't take it apart again.
Alternatively my daughter used to love (infact still does at age 12) the small cuddly animals that go with the Our Generation Dolls. Cute little dogs that you can get accessories for.

We have the playmobil carry along farm and pet store and they get played with a lot as there’s no building and all the contents pack inside and close so storage is really simple

Lottie dolls - horse , cats etc as accessories, and the dolls have great outfits like superhero, gymnast, fossil hunter, artist, horserider... the dolls are child-shaped too.

The playmobil 123 range has less small parts and fiddly bits. At 4 I don’t think she’s too old for it yet. Or duplo?

Try Schleich sets. My dd has those and the figures they go with them and the plus side is you can pick which you want as you can but my them separately.

Don't know how old your DD is. My problem with playmobil is the amount of tiny parts!!! My DCs are still small so I just put most of those away.

Another vote for Schleich!

Thanks everyone! Will look into all of these. She’s 4 but nearer to 5 at Christmas. I find her very frustrating to buy for as she never knows what she wants Confused Will have a look now Smile

I’ve come across Schleich sets, I didn’t realise until this thread so thanks!
I really like this for her
Schleich treehouse

Also, to the poster about our generation pets, that’s great as her sister has some dolls.

My daughters used to like the "in my pocket" ranges - there was jungle, ocean, kitty, puppy. There were little sets with a house and family of pets.

Or just small figures, I always recommended my busy books - a book with playmat and 10 figures.

Shopkins have been popular since they were younger- they do dolls and little food shaped figures with faces.

Twozies are little baby figures that come with a matching pet.

Or my youngest is very into lol dolls, you can buy dolls and pets. Argos had some pets reduced to £3.50 each recently.

Re-reading these messages, I’m probably just being lazy about playmobil. My daughter was bought a big set and I found the little bits infuriating! Lotties Dolls is going to be good for me to look up for other daughter.

I’m now in a world of twozies and animals in my pocket - these are what my little girl would love. Which one is better/played with more?

@1AngelicFruitCake a great website for Schleich is this one Toys&Learning
They usually have most things at a lower price than Amazon.

I'm also not a huge fan of playmobil, the swimming pool was the only set my dds liked and play with frequently. I think that was the novelty of water though!

Out of twozies and animals in my pocket, the in my pocket sets were played with more by both dds. Dd2 really liked the twozies but she likes people/baby figures more whereas dd1 always preferred animals.

Another one I thought of was hatchimals, dd2 loves these and they have small playsets too :) and if your dd likes dolls, enchantimals are dolls with matching animals, smaller that barbie, dd2 loves these and has a few different ones.

We have had and still have so many different small figures that get mixed and matched to play with. We have a real mismatch of furniture/playsets that are used for all the different toys together.

Schleich is great! We've still got items from when my 16 year old was little - still look like new! A bit expensive, esp the dinosaurs, but well worth it IMO

Playmobil is so many tiny pieces in a bid to achieve attention to detail. Playmobil junior is better.
We love Schleich here though and have a few sets and lots of animals.
My DD adores My Little Pony would that work for you
DS had a Safari set of plastic animals and a tree lodge from WH Smith's a out 6 or 7 years ago that was a hit

Thanks for all of these ideas. I’m having fun looking through all of these. My little ponies have been played with a lot as her sister has them but it’s made me consider buying sets from gumtree to maybe mix and match a few ideas. Thanks again x

Omg I remember "puppies/kitties in my pocket" from when I was a little girl! And the littlest pet shop. I loved those things.

Apparently pound puppies have made a comeback too?

If shes around the age where L.O.L dolls are the in thing and her friends are into it, they have lol doll pet sets.

Sylvanian Families. Very cute, and no building required. I'd recommend the caravan and a family as a starter.
