Christmas

Anyone else already have a huge christmas present pile squirreled away??

Hi! Ive emptied all my hiding spots and downloaded the gift list app to put in all the little presents I've squirreled away for Christmas and I already have loads for my girls!

All mostly bought at half price or less (my dd1s main gift is the harry potter clock tower set I paid £30 for!)There's been some v good offers on and I've been lucky on second hand sites too!

Anyone else as crazy as me and already nearly done for their children's Christmas presents? (My daughters are 11 & 8 + fairly consistent in their interests - dd1 lego and collectible figures, dd2 dolls... dolls and more dolls 😂)

For the inevitable complainers about how early... ive posted in the christmas topic where I'm sure the like minded individuals are 😂

Well done you. I've usually started my shopping by now, buying a couple of things every month from June to October, then going mad after November's pay. But, what with covid etc, I've not yet got round to it. I have, however, got the children's lists ready and am actively looking for deals on these items now.

I got my first presents last week- some sports tops for my nephews that were really well reduced.

My dc are 1 and 2 and their interests literally change every week, so I’ll hold off on getting anything for them- I don’t buy them a lot for Christmas anyway.

For everyone else though, I’m keeping my eyes peeled. The summer sales have been extensive in a lot of shops (thanks Covid!) so there’s definitely plenty of savings to be had if you’re organised.

I had a dream about Christmas shopping and worrying about the cost of it all last week. Need to get started now, thank you for inspiring me. Smile

I've made a start too! Stocking presents for the kids and a couple of smaller items, and just bought DHs present. Not doing the kids main present until much closer, their interests change too much. But feeling organised nonetheless!

Yes - with manufacturing having been disrupted worldwide by COVID, I was worried there might be limited availability/choice of toys closer to Christmas (already experienced this when trying to buy kids clothes), so I've been getting stuff a lot earlier than I normally would. Only children's stuff though - grown ups will understand if COVID impacts gift giving this year.

I've started too! Need to sort some proper space to put everything. I've got the gift list app to keep an eye on budget, what I've got and ideas. Hoping to hold out now until the smyths offers come in for the bigger presents and when xmas stock comes in to places like primark/b&m/boots to top up last of the budget. I've literally been browsing xmas stuff on pinterest and here for ideas as it gives me joy and something to look forward to x

I've started. I've got 4 maileg mice, a mouse tent, a wooden castle, Grimm's pebbles, a brio electric train. I've also chosen everything else for the children. (I live abroad, so I'm in charge of buying presents from family members and they usually ask me to choose!)
I've chosen my sister's present, my dad's, step mum's, step dad's, but no inspiration for mum or husband yet.

I got the Playmobil Rocket the other week when it was on a fab deal and I got DS his Christmas PJs in the post Christmas sale last year. Planning to do some more online today actually.

@LiquoricePickle did you find the mice anywhere with a discount? I love them but they are pricey micey! 😂

@Isadora2007 tragically I overpaid. I live in China, so they're an import and so expensive, but so so so cute.

Yes. I’ve been making the most of the recent sales. Got some great things in Debenhams recently & Argos had some good lego deals. Mainly got stocking fillers and pressies to bulk out my youngests pile. Will wait now for their main presents. Eldest wants an iPad so that’s easy but will be joint Xmas & birthday

I've got a few boxes stashed in the garage. Need to stop buying for my daughter (3) now though so that I've got enough of the budget left to buy things she wants nearer the time. Have finished a couple of adult gifts though and am almost done for the nieces and nephews.

Not a clue what to get DS though. I can't think of any toys his sister doesn't already have!

I've nearly finished 🎁🎄 I've picked up things here and there as I see them on offer. I keep a list on my phone to avoid overbuying. Some amazing bargains recently... 90% off etc.

I have bought lots so far for my two. Was a bit worried about another lockdown affecting present buying so find it helps me to buy things now. Also have one of their birthdays in October. Bought loads from the bargains thread, that has really helped too!

I do too. Every year I start during the summer sales but this year is the first year joining the Christmas threads on MN and found the bargains thread so helpful. Have a miracle DD to buy for this year so stated getting bits for her first Christmas - personalised stocking and presents sack that she can use for years to come, plus a few toys on sale. Also got the nieces (3 of them) all sorted out and sorted about half of the family gifts. Really chuffed with my progress, having to be extra careful this year with spending as I'm on maternity leave so the bargains are more important.

All Christmas cards and wrapping (paper, ribbons and embellishments bought in January sale after last Christmas) bought.

I'm loving reading everyone's threads for Christmas.

I've made a start, which is very early for me. Really good deals on at the moment though.

@Indreamland how lovely! Enjoy shopping for your little one!

@Cam2020 thank you. Yes the deals this summer I think are particularly good. Definitely take advantage of them, especially as we don't know what's coming with covid and how it may affect supply chains, shops opening and home deliveries.

I have made a start. We normally do a weekend shopping trip away for Christmas shopping. But with covid that's not a fun prospect.

I have started and plan to get it finished before November. I got some bargins in the typo sale last week

This thread has made me smile. Really uplifting to know that people are looking forward, planning, organising. I've lost my Christmas mojo bigtime this year, might be time to pull myself out of the corona-doldrums. Ho ho ho etc.

@CrimeCantCrackItself thank you. Still can't believe she's here, our little rainbow.

Enjoy building up the presents stack! We definitely need something to cheer us up with covid knocking about.
