What do I put in homemade crackers?!

I am doing homemade crackers this year as I am trying to save a bit of money, but I have no idea what to put inside - it will be for me, DS (15), DD (13) and DP who is coming for the meal but doesn't really 'do' Christmas and also doesn't drink so no minatures (my go-to idea!). I will get a scratch card for each but am after ideas of little gifts - I used up all my ideas for the stockings!

A Ferrari rocher? One of those credit card muktitools? Earrings?

I bought little Christmas ornaments - some wooden, some made of felt. I got cheap ones at Tiger, but I imagine Wilko, supermarkets etc would do similar ones.

I’ve been looking at the pin badges on the Not on the High Street site. I’m skint, so they’re a bit pricey for me (I’m making 10 crackers), but I thought about making my own badges with similar slogans.

My home made ones were more expensive than bought.

They have a small chocolate (the Santa’s in a net bag from Sainsbury’s) a scratch card and a wind up racer (Santa, Reindeer, snowman and a penguin).

In mine I'm putting a scratch card in each one then a small body shop hand cream for MIL, pin badge and bulldog lip balm for DH, tiny packet of haribo and tiny matchbox monster truck and a maybelline lip balm for me. I've also put in sparkly nail varnishes before now.

They did end up much more expensive!

A piece of paper with "BANG!!" written on it?

We do this and like others have suggested we do charity pins, key rings, sweets, miniatures, you could do trolly tokens, earrings, mini pens, lips sticks/lip balms, mini hand creams, nail varnish, fidget spinners, fidget cubes, deodorant might fit, travel toiletries.

I agree making your own costs more but are better for the environment.

I'm making little brown paper gift bags this year and each one has something from the charity shop. I got 3 rings for £1 for dd, sister and me, a scarf for mum for 50p, a bottle opener for £1. I will get a book for my dad's. Little toys for the dc. They will overall have cost me about £10 but no plastic crap and a talking point too hopefully. Ds and I are going to make them, write the joke and put some quiz questions in too

Thanks everyone, some brilliant suggestions - I especially love the piece of paper with the word BANG on it, very tempting! Grin

I’m making my own crackers this year. There will be the obligatory hat and crap joke and also a ferrero Rocher and a clarins miniature. (You can order three samples with any order so I picked appropriate ones for me, dd(18) and dh).

I’m doing crackers too and I’ve picked up a few novelty versions of useful items in Tiger. Things like nail brushes, nail files, dinosaur shaped rubbers for the children.
I also made some homemade lavender pillow sprays using mini travel sized spray bottles, again from tiger.

I've bought Hotel Chocolat crackers and will add a scratch card and a charity pin. The ones I bought are out of stock (marine conservation society) or I would have recommended them but I'm sure some other charities will have good options.

Depends on what type of family you are but instead of charity pins you can get feminist, environmental, Eu/Brexit ones! Just go on eBay.
