We usually do lasagne, garlic bread, wedges etc, or pizza and those party food packs you can buy. Something that can be made in advance or something super easy!

This is my first year with DC and first year hosting, I'm going to do a buffet dinner! Going to get some quiches and tarts from Cook and do quick and easy sides like couscous and salad.

Tomato soup and sandwiches. Busy baking day so get our first mince pies warm from oven after. Then, it’s Christmas!

Baked camembert, crusty bread and some salady bits usually. Trifle for pudding and a few glasses of port.

When I was a kid we always had some firm of fish. I think that tradition cake from my grandmother, who thought you should ‘eat lightly’ on Xmas Eve.

DH and I tend to chop and change every year. I used to go all out and make a big meal - beef wellington, or Christmas ham with roasted veg, or roast duck. But for the last few years we either get a takeaway or have a party food buffet. Minimum effort, basically.

I usually make a wellington, salmon or beef depending on who is here for Xmas Eve.

Homemade glazed ham, mashed potatoes and peas. Warming and yummy. And left over ham for Boxing Day.

We get together with family and have roast pork and apple sauce rolls with crackling and salad.
I absolutely love it. It’s so relaxed and puts us in the mood for Christmas

I always do my ham Christmas Eve and often have relatives popping round so we end up with the ham being used in a buffet along with nice crusty bread, Italian meats, olives, salad, pate, cheese and biscuits and homemade sausage rolls. The ham gets brought out again on Xmas day, Boxing Day etc

We always do a cheese fondue. Delicious and easy

Depends what we do during the day. I’m working this year so may well do a slow cooker dish. For quite a few years I would do fish.

Chip shop. Which is fine until Christmas eve is on a Monday and then all hell breaks loose Grin

It's a huge day in my house because I'm from the continent and we celebrate Christmas Eve HARD! It's the main meal for us and we open presents at midnight.

Christmas Eve is always traditional salted codfish, with a ridiculously big buffet with cheese platters, olives, deli meats, lobster and crab.

We do Christmas dinner the next day with British in-laws.

Chops and changes but a couple of different soups and homemade soda bread has been really nice in the past. Fish is popular too.

We do a buffet and the grandparents come round to see DS. He's 14 now so we might not do it this year. But then DH says 'but it's tradition....'

Blinis, small sausages in honey and mustard, prawns in ginger and lime. Followed by anything like salmon or ham or whatever. Then charades and walk in the dark. Christmas is late breakfast, church/walk and presents for children. Christmas lunch very late. All working round children.
