We have splashed out and are taking the kids to Lapland UK this year. Could anyone tell me what to bring bag-wise? Do I need something large to carry the toy they give you to give to them at Christmas? Or will a normal-sized handbag do? Will I need to take a bottle of water each for the kids?

What do you do with your bag while you're ice-skating?

You get the toy at the end so no, you don't need a big bag. Take a rucksack or something with a bottle of water and wear it while you skate.

You can buy drinks in the village, hot chocolate and mulled wine etc.

Honestly, travel light, you'll be having so much fun it flies by. You probably won't even drink your water!

Take money to buy a souvenir bauble or light too. It really is magical. Don't forget to update your child's personal info online

Ours took the toy straight away, it wasn't given to us to give them at Christmas. Father Christmas gave them it there and then.

The pack with the invitations in had a thank you card for Christmas morning in though

Oooh I’m booked for this for the first time too, so equally excited and wondering what to expect and how to make the most out of the experience. What should we wear, is the village outside enclosed at all? Trying to think about how not to take too much stuff if we’ll need layers and gloves/scarves/hats for the ice skating??
What else is there to do in the free time bit, apart from look in the shop and get drinks?

Wear outdoor clothes, the village is outside. It is absolutely fantastic, we got so swept away with the magic. You can take your own photos, the way it's organised is brilliant. You'll have a great time

@crustycrab they get given the husky by Father Christmas and you should have picked up the snowman on your way out with the photo. I think they'll send it to you if you didn't.

Oh it's a magical place. It's outdoors so warm clothes. You don't need a bag or water, when you get to the outside area there's food and drinks and shops.

We are going too, I can’t wait! We have bought our ds a really beautiful wool coat as figured that is what you will see in the pictures. Has anybody got any advice about what to wear on your feet? Do you need wellies? It says only elf jingles can be used in the village but did mention cards. Can everything be put on cards including sweets from the sweet shop?

@florin we wore wellies/snow boots but found the children's ice skates wouldn't fit over my 6 year olds boots (luckily we also had her trainers in the bag). The adult skates are normal but size 2 and under they strap over the shoes.

@florin we bought some jingles but believe everything can be paid on car if needed. We just got the jingles and then changed them back.
