I’m struggling a bit with DH this year so have been thinking back over my previous hits for relatives and friends to see if it sparks off any ideas or inspirations. Thought it might be a good idea for a thread!

My best hits have been:

Cheese hamper for my dad
readly app subscription
Coffee club subscription
North face slippers - DH
Mini aftershave set for travelling - DH
a limited edition decanter for my grandad
wallet ninja for pretty much everyone who gets one
Steak stone - serious hit last year and still gets use a lot

What are yours?

I get my mum 24 1/2 bottles of wine each year, I've offered to get something different but she insists she's very happy with it.

That sounds like a GREAT gift

I like to try and get surprises for DH but he’s tricky to buy for this year because there’s not really anything he needs or wants... which is lovely... but inconvenient!

Formcards are a hit with the menfolk.

My nan went crazy for her sponsorship to the monkey sanctuary. It included free entry and she went and loved it.

Lego sets might be an idea actually thank you!

What a great reaction for the monkey sanctuary gift :)

Wallet ninjas went down well with my dh, dad and grandad.
As a joke gift I got my dh an old fashioned back scratcher and shoe horn, he loved it.

I had no idea what to get DH or my family last year so I booked an escape room for us all to do and a weekend trip away to Edinburgh for DH. Both events were booked for within a month of Christmas and it meant I wasn't getting them random 'stuff' that they didn't want or need.

I desperately need some ideas for DH. He's giving me no input at all, has no hobbies, doesn't read or drink, just isn't really into anything.

Following with interest for some ideas!

Is he into food at all @cricketmum84?

Kinda. I've bought cookbooks in the past that have never been opened. I bought a gift box of hot sauces last Christmas that our DS opened last week.

He loves cricket so I bought a couple of autobiographies of famous cricketers for him to take on holiday but they also remain untouched.

God he sounds like a right boring sod doesn't he 😂😂

@Bellasblankexpression I'm so tempted by the Steak Stone for DH! He can't think of anything he wants.

Those ancestry DNA kits have gone down well with my husband and mum.

Photo jigsaws. The grandparents loved one of the kids.

@BouquetOfRoses it went down really well and gets used all the time here :) my mum has just got one for my dad’s birthday because he loved ours so much when he came around for dinner!

@cricketmum84 is there any local cricket you could get tickets for or has that already been done?

@Bellasblankexpression good shout - I put us down for the ballot for 2 international matches being played nearby but didn't get a ticket :( and the county matches aren't really played until summer so he's got a 6 month wait.

Will have a browse on ticketmaster later today and see if there's any gigs or shows coming up that he might like.

Thanks for the Steak Stones idea- my DH would love this...any recommendations of the best place to buy them please?

We've done a cheese/chutney/port hamper before for my dad (there's a lovely specialist local shop) which went down a treat.
For a novelty gift, Argos 2 for £15 remote controlled cars were a big hit! (Better if there are a few to race!)

A new coat went down well with my dad.
Expensive whisky for my mum.
I'm getting them a joint present of 2 nights away this year which I'm hoping will be the best yet

Ledlenser torch for DH. I've bought DS1, who is the army, one of their rechargeable head torches this year.

DH got me a trip to feed the giraffes at the zoo. We took DS2 and his girlfriend, too. It was an amazing experience.

We bought DS2 a go on zipworld . DH did it too. We had a few days in the area, too.

A selection of Twinnings teas in a wooden presentation box for DS1

DH loves his North Face slippers

Cashmere scarf for DS2's girlfriend

The wallet ninja and formcards are great ideas.

  • Cheese hampers from Pongcheese.co.uk

  • From Travelzoo -> dinner for 2 somewhere swanky

  • Selection of craft beers

  • Book subscription (new book, tea, bookmark once a month)

My favourite ever present (though not cheap) was an experience at the Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent where I got to feed a tiger and a lion...

We got ours from amazon, it was the official steak stone and cost about £40 I think I’ll see if I can find a link
