Can we have a men’s gifts thread

There are often threads asking for ideas for specific men and I’ve often picked up a good idea from them. I thought it might be useful to have a general one to share ideas of what we’re buying, hits and misses of previous years.
So far...
dh is getting clothes, new belt (sounds dull but he’s very particular and it took me a while to track down the exact one so he’ll appreciate the effort, and his current one is looking worn), a magnetic wristband (so I don’t have to hunt for missing screws) and Bluetooth earphones
Df will be getting sports dvds
Dfil is getting a weatherstick and toffee that you break with a hammer and possibly a wireless bird box or a trip on a steam train/canal boat (still thinking about this)

I’ve had success in previous years with grid it for both men and women, and with thin optics tiny reading glasses. Though it took a bit of convincing to give them a go, both dh and fil love them.

Sugru went down like a lead balloon here though it gets recommended a lot, and I’d quite like some myself.

Every man and women for that matter who I have brought a wallet ninja for is still using it to this day so I would certainly recommend it as a gift. Grin

I've also had some recent success with novelty pizza socks which came in a pizza box and were very good quality.

I clearly have the tricky Dh who has never used his wallet ninja or grid it. We do use sugary but it has a fairly short use by date so we tend only to buy as we need it.

He did like the rack of tiny boxes for organising his work bench and velcro cable ties. Chocolate of some sort is always a good call, along with beer and coffee.

This year he'll be getting a belt made from recycled bike inner tube www.cycleofgood.com/

This is on my list of potential presents for an 'impossible-to-find-original-sciencey-presents-for' 20something!

"From Science Fiction To Science Fact"
by Joel Levy

How sci-fi ideas inspired real life technology we use now.
For those into all that, I'd imagine it appealing to any age group from teens up.

Whats a wallet ninja and sugru? So far have a dressing gown for dh, totally boring. He will get something to do with beer or diy gadgets or Everton.
Home made fruit gin and wild flower seeds for "green" brother.
Sweets or jumper for dad who has advanced dementia and wont even know what day it is.
Teen DS has bass guitar related stuff, aftershave/ beard oil as he cant make up his mind, and money.

Lego. I can't think anything else. He likes Lego but won't buy it himself. So far he has gotten Lego Apollo, millennium Falcon and BB-8. This year I think I get him Lego Lunar lander that goes nicely together with his Apollo.

Obviously again equally good for either sex, but a Minirig mini portable bluetooth speaker was a big hit with my DP (was recommended by a friend who does sound as being very good quality for the price, they're also made in the UK which is a nice extra).

@dementedma what kind of things are you buying related to Bass guitar? DS (12) plays and is really into his but I don't know what I could get him- probably because it's all unfamiliar to me... He has a guitar and an amp already but I'm not sure what else I could get him?

My husband never used his wallet ninja and was unimpressed with the sugru. He has been dropping hints about a watch so probably that for his main present. Books, loves the penguin little classics so will get some more. An opinel knife he loves wood working and use 's them outdoors. Liquorice and a rubiks cube. The best present I ever got him was a leatherman multi tool, he takes it everywhere and used it. Still tells me how much he loved that gift.

Just don't have a wallet ninja in your wallet at the airport. Ds loved his & then had it confiscated, never to be seen again.

@peoplepleaser depends how much you want to spend. DS is nearly 18 and wants to be a pit musician so he's pretty serious about it. He already has 4 basses and would quite like one he's seen for 2.5K!! I think you can imagine my response to that request! So, he has also asked for a new hard shell case, various foot pedals and technical thingies which plug in and do...erm
.stuff! He is getting some fun bass related stuff like a t shirt which says "Lord of the Strings" and a multicolored print of a bass for his wall. For your DS maybe a cool strap for his bass or picks if he uses them.

JBL Charge 4 Bluetooth speaker. He's complained about the bass not being good enough on his current speaker.
World globe. He loves geography so I think he'll appreciate this and will be educational for the whole family.
Clothes, boxers, socks. Boring but will be appreciated!
