Thank you for the new thread Fluffy

I haven’t properly caught up yet, things have been manic here but I wanted to quickly post because I’m so excited I needed to tell someone. My wonderful nephew who is 2 and has CP (I’m sure some of you will remember me posting about him being born early and getting his diagnosis) has been battling his physio because he hates it.
He’s been refusing to wear his splints and been afraid of his walker - TODAY HE HELD THE WALKER AND TOOK HIS FIRST 5 STEPS!
He has a long way to go but my sis FaceTimed me. She said he started climbing on it so they stood him in front of it and he just went.
He was so proud of himself, laughing and cheering (he says “yay” wherever he’s done something good), it was amazing.

I’m so excited for him right now, both dsis and I were crying 😭

That's brill, Crazy. My nephew has CP too. But wasn't diagnosed until almost-8 (scandalous actually). He has left-sided hemiplegia and is also autistic. He gets on well though. Thankfully (he's 21 and well over 6ft now!).

That's great crazy! Dd was a late walker due to a neuro muscular condition. She didn't need braces but had to wear these giant clunky boots to stabilise her Grin they were pink and pretty cute though. It's the best when they finally do it.

Morning!

DD woke up at 6.38 and now I can't get back off to sleep. I'm still in bed though as she was told it's not morning!

We're off to the local wetland place this morning. It's always colder there than here so will be very chilly!

It’s a beautiful morning here.
That’s fantastic, Crazy!

Thank you for the congrats for dnephew. I wish I could post a pic for you all to see how cute he is but dsis would kill me!
He has Diplegic CP and as he's only 2 the extent isn't clear yet. He only began crawling a few months ago (an army crawl as he couldn't really use his legs much) and his coordination isn't great (he can't speak yet and his coordination means he also can't sign) so walking felt so far into the future but he's shown us.
I'm so happy for him - and dsis is now panicking about the day he goes one way and dniece (who's only 10 months younger) runs in the opposite direction Xmas Grin

So glad to hear your nephew gets on ok Fluffy. How did he get to 8 without a diagnosis?
I have to say, the NHS have been amazing for dsis, as nephew was prem they've monitored his development closely and picked up issues quickly.

Wreck how is your DD now?
They've said it's likely nephew will need boots - basically it's a walker now to steady him, splints to stretch his muscles and straighten his legs (he's only recently started to sit with his legs straight, and that's after months of physio). Then all being well, he'll move on to boots and possibly a stick / crutch.

I've just seen DH off on his annual half term trip away with his friends.
It froze overnight here, first one of the season!
My plan while he's gone is to:
🤶🏻Start writing Christmas cards
🤶🏻Make my winter candle
🤶🏻Finish Christmas shopping
🤶🏻Finish crochet snowflakes
🤶🏻Put together my crochet wreath
🤶🏻Order and start the cross stitch for my friend

Where do you all buy your cross stitches from? I'm torn between a Christmas one and finding a Harry Potter one for my friend...

She's 9 now. She had years of wearing splints but doesn't need to now. Well she could do but she wasn't wearing them and as the stretches were working we decided it wasn't worth the hassle. She trips a lot less these day but obviously is unable to keep up with her peers physically. It's a progressive disease though but shouldn't get worse until adulthood.

Crazy, because the NHS were abysmal. My sister was passed from pillar to post when she was concerned about his walking and it took forever for somebody to take her seriously and refer him to a paediatrician. As soon as they walked through the door the paediatrician said, 'That's cerebral palsy.' Honestly, it was insane and frustrating.

I get my cross stitches from Little Doves and Love Crafts. The latter is new (offshoot from Sew & Sew which closed) and has loads of discounts going on, probably to drum up trade. eBay can have good deals too.

That sounds like a great list Crazy and you've sent me off down a Harry Potter cross stitch rabbit hole. Note to self - you don't need any more craft projects.

My list for the week is nowhere near as festive as yours:
Take DS and his pal bowling on Tuesday (pal is sleeping over tomorrow)
Post a couple of parcels tomorrow
Crack on with a blanket for SIL

I think I'll be home alone during the day on Thursday and Friday so I can craft my little socks off. Good job really as I have a to-do list as long as my arm.

I picked up the Morrison's festive food brochure yesterday. It is certainly much thinner than previously. I'll probably only pre-order my turkey crown and then just get whatever treats and party type food that's available in store when I do my big shop. I need to make room in the freezer before I start my baking at the end of the month. I foresee lots of interesting meals over the next couple of weeks.

Wreck I'm amazed by children's resilience. I've been doing some research into leg splints etc and they're amazing!

Fluffy that's appalling, your sister must have been so frustrated. I understand doctors not wanting to diagnose too early and be wrong but to dismiss a concerned parent is just ridiculous.
We've had one bit of nonsense - the first physio nephew had did 2 sessions and told dsis that he'll never walk because he didn't engage in the exercises. He was 15 months old!
Dsis asked for a new physio who in turn recommended hydrotherapy and lo and behold, he's made loads of progress.

Sorry woolly but welcome to my world Xmas Grin
Please post pics of your crafting, I love being inspired by other people's makes.

I'm now off to browse Little Doves and Love Crafts....
