LOL doll house

My dd5 is obsessed with LOL dolls. I can't stand them, but he has played with them daily for nearly 2 years. We've recently banned YouTube because I don't want her being advertised to any more particularly in the run up to Christmas with the ridiculous LOL releases.

However last night however I was looking at the LOL house on Smyths and placed a pre-order on a whim. I figure I can cancel it if I change my mind, but when they sell out I can't. It would actually be a practical present, given she spreads her LOL dolls all over the house, it would give them a place in her room and keep them away from her toddler sister. She's never had a main Christmas present before just lots of stuff. If I got this it would take up all the room on Santa's sleigh so not really anything else.

If I didn't get this she'd be getting more Playmobil to break up and lose bits to and smaller LOL sets anyway.

I'm basically just posting this to try and justify this ridiculous expense to myself, has anyone else ordered it? Blush

I saw a picture of the contents of the new Bigger LoL surprise and it looks crap so that swayed me. At least this is made out of wood and not wrapped in 50m of plastic wrap?

Anyone?

Fellow pre-order placer here 👋

They are ridiculously expensive & tbh I don't think DD has clocked that they actually make one yet but I'm not getting hit with her realising & asking Santa for one at the end of November when you won't be able to get one for love nor money.... got caught up with the Luvabella last year... never again!!

I think they're quite cute anyway tbh

Over pre ordered one too, my daughter loves lol dolls and would be thrilled with it. It’s a big expensive present but to be honest I’d probably spent about the same on various random crap she wouldn’t bother with once Christmas Day was over, so...

I was going to get it for my daughter but saw that it hasn’t really got anything in it that’s worth the price tag I rather get her a few lol dolls. You can just buy a separate dolls house to keep them in.

I too, I'm so tempted to buy! I added it to my basket last night then chickened out. My 5yo has been obsessed with lols all year. It looks huge. Just not sure if it's worth the price tag 🤔

Not a popular choice here on mumsnet but you can see the LOL house on Sacconejoly youtube channel, their daughter was gifted for her birthday a few days ago.

I am no way involved in LOL dolls or Sacconejoly just have a guilty addiction to youtube

Oh phew. Thank you fellow indulgers for owning up. Yes I thought it would look like a strip club to be honest but it's more 80's retro than playboy mansion so that appealed to me. My daughter currently has a LOL doll house sized empty spot in her room where I moved some furniture too. She currently plays with her LOL dolls in a Happyland house so she could do with s bigger kid upgrade. She also hasn't seen it yet, but I'm sure she will find out from the playground and see it before Christmas.

I might tell DP I got it on a special early bird price offer...

Yep I’ve pre ordered Grin not even guilty about it for a number of reasons...

  1. I have two dd’s (4 and will be 8, but a young 7 atm!)
  2. all they do, all day every day is play LOL’s, they do everything with them in various different play environments. In the current dolls house the lol’s are there, they go in the bath with them, the sit in the baby carriage, they buy shop kind, they are in the barbie camper van etc
  3. we are getting rid of the toy kitchen so it will make a perfect space for it to live.

My only trepidation is that we currently have a four storey dolls house.... but it will live next to it- and I am thinking we will make a zip line from the top of one to the middle of the next one!

Slightly harder to get past dh is that I have also Pre ordered the pop up shop (arrived yesterday) the new big surprise and two pomsies.... potentially at the detriment of the electric bill Blush so will have to top up my account ASAP if it all comes out at once!

I’m pretty excited about it 😁
I thought they were really odd when my daughter first started playing with them, and they are definitely over priced for what they are, but most kids toys are!! I would have loved stuff like this when I was a kid!

RoseDog that might be where I first got a glimpse of it last night that had me checking it out on Smyths. I try not to watch their channel but have to check in every now and again open mouthed. I was up late last night with a poorly toddler and I tend to watch vlogs on nights like that.

Duckswaddle I mostly wish they didn't have so much plastic packaging and looked more like babies. I hate the knee high boots and bling of them. My daughter would love them even more if they were cute and wearing babygrows and dungarees. She does like Baby Secrets too (£3 blind pack and they colour change) but they get less hype on YouTube.

I don't actually have the money for it yet, hoping it won't be sent out before pay day Blush.

sorry to hijack but... how many lol dolls do your dds have? I secretly feel like I am as invested in them as the kids are now. my dds have approx 10 between them. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the under wrapsBlush

I was feeling a little ashamed but now I'm considering the house [santa]

Erm..... about 50 the last count... and around 20 or so little sisters!

It’s all they’ve had for the last year really, with two dd’s they soon add up!!

Yep, preordered 2, ordered one from amazon, but then they emailed to say they didn’t know when they would deliver, so panicked and ordered from symths too, will prob cancel whichever doesn’t turn up first, or sell to someone who didn’t preorder.

Worth mentioning that people have said the water from the pool can damage the wood on the base, so I’m getting some varnish ready to varnish the pull out layer, I may varnish the whole thing, not sure yet.

Just trying to work out if assembling it is feasable before Xmas day as it looks like a bit of a faff and with 4 kids and a busy travelling Xmas day im not sure we’ll have time to so need to work out if the actual house could be pre assembled or wether that spoils the whole unwrapping experience, will need to watch some more tube vids and try work that out!

It will be dds only present other than her stocking as so costly but I know she will love it and I’d rather one loved present than 20 bits of tat.

Oh my god! I didn’t even know this thing existed an hour ago and I’ve already succumbed and placed an order for one!

Makingmiracles, I've been wondering this too, also about varnishing. I wonder if pre building the house, then wrapping up all the individual room boxes would be an option? I've watched one unboxing video, and in the box box is the flatpscked house and then loads of other boxes inside a box shaped like a moving van. Perhaps keeping only the box containing the family of dolls inside the moving van shaped box, so that one can still be wrapped too. As most of us aren't buying much else this would give a pile of presents but also mean we can check everything is complete and prevarnish the bottom piece. Interested to hear what other people are thinking.

You could always wrap the big empty box for under the tree, that's what I do for playmobil.

My DD loves LOLs but got a Barbie house last year so I'm a bit conflicted....

I pre-ordered one too, my dd will absolutely love it. I really like that you can pre order to store on smyths, so you don’t have to actually pay until you collect and then it’s easy enough to cancel if you want, too.

Can I ask please what age everyone’s dc are that enjoy lol dolls? My dd will be 10 just after Xmas, but she is disabled though so i suppose she’s younger than her age iyswim, I just worry a wee bit that she’ll get even more bullying at school for liking them. She honestly plays with them every day.
I pre ordered the big surprise too but I’m cancelling that one as dd saw it on YouTube and hated the wigs, she actually shuddered when she saw them 😂

Are the confetti pop being discontinued now? It’s dds favourite series and she’s desperately trying to collect more but I’ve found them harder to get - smyths are saying they’re not getting any more in, and Argos don’t have them in any of their stores.

Jammiebammie, I think other 10 year olds play with them, though it's my 5 year old that loves them and she got her first ones on her 4th birthday. Her 11 year old sister plays with them with her every day, and she asks for some of her own, but I haven't bought her any yet because if I gave her £10 to spend in a toy shop I know she'd rather spend it on Pokemon cards or other toys and even she's admitted that. I know they will definitely play with the house together, they already do daily with a much smaller house they have.

Thank you @Pressuredrip - that’s made me feel a lot better! Dd2 is 11 and is so past playing with toys I wonder if it’s clouded my judgement a bit - I do like that dd3 is still ‘young’

I’ve just done another smyths pre order...... lol advent calendar!!!!

Have ordered the advent calendar, I am sitting on my hands (and bank card!) until Xmas now though.

They will discontinue the confetti pops fairly quickly tbh... the entertainer had some in online so could be worth ordering now for Xmas- got one each for their stockings! Also Argos have a 3 pack of lol series 2 for £30 if she is collecting those still?

BlooperReel · 19/09/2018 14:56

Thanks for the advent calendar tip, I have pre-ordered it.

Had to resist getting the house, just cannot justify the cost having heard not great reviews. I am getting the smaller £40 house/storage box instead.
