Christmas

London at end of November

I figured this would be better here on the Christmas board than on the travel board...

We are heading to London at the end of November for a couple of nights - travelling back out on the first day to do Harry Potter.

Looking for things that will be very Christmassy to do (apart from the lights of course) as this is DH only opportunity to do anything Christmassy with the boys and I before Christmas Eve (works in hospitality) , and he’s now as big a Christmas geek as I am!

Are there any restaurants that are particularly beautifully decorated?

Any where particularly have beautiful decorations normally?

Plan on doing the likes of fortnums / Liberty / Selfridges etc although not Harrods this time.

Just looking for any kind of suggestions of anything!

Have you done Winter Wondererland at Hyde Park? Can't get much more Christmasy than that. That usually starts at the end of November.

I was going to suggest the Xmas markets on the Southbank but I'm pretty sure it usually starts early December.

The pop up Xmas ice skating rinks at places like the Natural History Museum or Somerset House are always really festive with lots of lights, hot chocolate, mulled wine and treats etc but again I'm not sure whether they'll start late November. It might be early December.

I hope you have fun.

Thanks @butlerswharf ! I’ll look into those too! DH and I have done Winter wonderland years ago , but not with the children yet, so I’ll pop that on the list!

The Christmas light trails at Kew Gardens or cheswick house. The lights on Carnaby Street are good.

Dalloway Terrace is a magical place to eat at Christmas but I'm not sure when they put their decorations up.
Last year, the grotto at Westfield was superb, one of the best I've been to www.visitlondon.com/things-to-do/event/46179335-santas-snowflake-grotto-at-westfield-london

Carnaby street lights, then hot chocolate in liberty tea room and buy a new Christmas decoration.

Festive afternoon tea at fortnum and masons was lovely a few years ago and they really spoiled our then 11, 9 and 4yr olds.

It's pricey, but I'll never forget having dinner in December at Rules near Covent Garden. They decorate lavishly. It was really special.
