Anyone fancy a Christmas craft chat?

Is anyone working on any craft projects for christmas yet? I’m itching to get started but can’t get stuck in for another week or so, so still at the grand plans stage.
My mum and sister went for colour consultations last Christmas and have been culling their wardrobes since so I’m planning on making some shopping totes to tone in with their colour schemes/styles.
My ds’s are both heavily into minecraft so I might have a go at some soft furnishings for their bedroom.
When dn comes over we often bake and she’s out grown the toddler aprons so I thought I might make her an apron.
I want to make some lightly padded cushion covers to store extra bedding, for myself but I’m thinking that they might be useful for my older dn who has moved into a shoebox her first flat, so I’ll see what she thinks of them when I’m done with my own ones and maybe make her some for Christmas.
I found a doll house in a charity shop and have been collecting furniture for it, and planning to do it up. I’m not sure if it’s suitable for dn yet as she’s only 8 and the furniture is very, very delicate. I think I might just be indulging myself with that one!

Anyone else got any plans or projects underway?

I love doing crafts with my kids, does that count?! I'm too lazy to be artistic, but I can just about supervise kids doing artsy stuf f.
Very interested in your dolls house! My dds have dismantled their old one and are renovating it as a project.

I'll start in September - I'm not in the mood yet.

I've nothing planned yet. Apart from finishing the advent calendar. And quilting DC1's Christmas quilt. And making another Christmas quilt for DC2. And using up all the other Christmas fabric. Xmas Smile

Can I join please? I made lots of Barbie furniture and bedding etc for DD last year. I have already made a few Harry Potter decorations for the Christmas tree, with some more planned.

I’ve been planning new present sacks/oversized stockings for about 3 years now, so am hoping to actually get round to that...

I’ve made a stack of stuffed reindeers! I’m trying to knit my son a blanket but my knitting isn’t the best! I’ll be making Christmas bunting for those that didn’t get any last year (and moaned!)

Any links to the sort of Minecraft projects you have planned OP? I think I enjoy planning these things more than actually doing them

I think children’s crafts definitely count. I’ve just had so much of that over the holidays that I need a bit of adult crafting therapy to recover Smile

So far I’ve got a velvet skirt to cut into carpets for the house, and I’m planning on doing some wallpaper in illustrator or photoshop. I have a single kid leather glove that might become something, and some wood stain to darken the stairs and rails to make it more Victorian and moody.

I’m fascinated by quilting but have too short an attention span to take on anything that can’t be finished in an evening (the dollhouse is doomed)

I’d love to see pictures! The HP decorations sound fab and I’m intrigued by the sack of reindeer!!!

I’m not really sure about the minecraft stuff. It’s still in my head. I’m thinking of red curtains with a white stripe saying TNT. And a square lampshade if I can work out how that may turn into a ghast.... very vague.

I've made a few bits for the Woolly Hugs Christmas craft sale - but nothing specifically christmassy, yet.

I’ve ordered two charm packs and a jelly roll of William Morris Holiday fabric. It looks as if a little will go a long way and I’m thinking of making a quilted “door wreath” in similar colours for my three sibs. Probably Carpenter’s Wheel.
That’s the plan, anyway...Grin

Wow OP, that is an amazing list of things to do before Christmas.

I'd really like to kit some 'paper' chains and I saw a fantastic pattern for an older style Christmas light garland I'd like to attempt. I also have the patterns for a knitted Nativity that I think I am going to start soon. I'm hoping to work on these projects whilst waiting around at the DC's activities when they start again in September as the pieces are fairly small and easy to carry around.

I also have a couple of toys to finish off for the DC and a couple part knitted for the Woolly Hugs Christmas collection - all of which have been hanging around in my UFO pile for quite a while and I'd like to get them finished.

I like the sound of the HP decorations. I'm gonna follow with interest as I always plan on making Christmas crafts but always leave it too late.

An older girl baking apron with a chefs hat to match (and maybe some pot holders or oven mitts if you have enough patience) would be a great idea. Add a wooden spoon and some baking tins or icing colors or bits and it’s seriously cool!

I’m knitting - I have some way to go but I have more than half the DSiblings and DSignificant Others project completed.

I always have loads of ideas (and raw materials Xmas Blush ) but not enough time. Planning some sewing, paper raft, baking, infusing and flower arranging....

And then it will get to Christmas Eve and I will collapse with nothing done and needing stuff gin!

Has anyone got pictures of their ideas/makes? Particularly liking the sound of the HP decorations, I’m planning to have a Harry Potter Xmas room this year Grin

I think a little apron sounds adorable! There’s so many nice plans on Pinterest too, I can lose hours on there:

I have a new sewing machine this year which I haven’t even had out to play yet, I’m hoping to make stockings and Christmas sacks but really need to get my finger out. I’m supposed to be sewing a busy book for my friends dd’s birthday but I haven’t started yet, so may do that for Xmas too.
I’ve also got a cricut, so will make the usual cards, decorations etc and I usually personalise a few things too.

Very exciting!

I'm waiting on some wool to arrive. With that I'm making one of Alan Darts' creations, Father Christmas. I have to make two because my mum want's one also! Xmas Grin If he's not to big he is going to be my tree topper this year.

I've got table mats from last year to sew, a tree skirt planned on Pinterest and embroidered decorations to make. I need to start early or I will never do it. Little aprons are on the list for presents for my girls too.

Yes! Five years ago I made a little wall hanging for DD2 for her dorm room in university. This year I am making a framed collage for DD1 - basically a fox in a snowy birch wood, with ribbon, embroidery, fabrics to suggest a leaden sky and snow, and probably more details as the project progresses.

I have also been inspired by Pinterest to attempt some little old tart tin decorations, with cut outs from old Christmas cards and some bits and bobs. Must finish DD's thing first though.

And I am definitely going to make some of these Danish woven heart decorations. goo.gl/images/ZqbuUW

Hi! If you're interested in Harry Potter Christmas decorations look on the blog epbot. It's by Jen Yates, the woman behind Cakewrecks. She makes amazing HP crafts and decorations, and has does tutorials too.

Sorry to post then bugger off, we’re on holiday with very limited internet. The HP decorations are just simple papercraft ones. Mostly ideas stolen from Pinterest. I’ve found a pic of the unfinished letter, map and memo on my phone (taken before I composted the old Christmas tree), but have since made some mini Bertie Botts sweet boxes and tiny wind boxes am making a howler next.

I’m sure I have a pic of the Barbie furniture and furnishing somewhere on my phone too. I’ll post it if I find it.
