For those of you staying in, what are you having to eat New Year’s Eve?
We normally do a buffet but I’m thinking we might try something different!

We get an Indian takeaway and the kids get dominos pizza. There will be two families here and it has worked better this way. In the past I've done buffet style food with pulled pork, ribs and nibbles but this takes less work and gets me out of the kitchen.I want to relax.

A normal family meal for us, especially as DCs won’t necessarilly tell is they won’t be there until heading out the door.

Tradition says ham or pork, so we try to do that.

going out for pub lunch and good long walk with ddog,

then on the evening ,oysters, seafood platter, good sourdough, cornish cruncher and cider bake with crudites, (all thanks to M&S, no work for us) plenty of prosecco, wine, and pear brandy-

will have spiced nuts, crisps, olives and cheese straws to munch on if we 'need' them

had pretty much the same on Christmas eve and really enjoyed it

Buffet things here. And there's a Nut Roast that needs used before the 1st. Might cook that .

We do the homemade pizza on Boxing Day (one of our family traditions) I mix the dough up in the morning then we all peek at it to make sure it rises .

NYD there's a lasagne in the freezer so that's sorted.

We are making Nigella’s roast duck which needs to be started tomorrow and refrigerated over night to then cook on NYE. Got a half price whole duck in M&S yesterday for £4.50!

Pub lunch, buffet in the evening.
Technically, we stay in but are on holiday with family and we have a big party every NYE as we all have dc of varying ages so going out to a pub etc is not on the agenda.
A big cheeseboard, some homemade sausage rolls and other pastry bits, bruschetta with various toppings, don’t know what else, everyone just chips in and makes something.
Yum!

Changes from year to year. This year it's going to be beef with onion, mushroom and tomatoes and chips with a pavlova for pudding.

back to a buffet style this year, home made sausage rolls, pizza (not home made), dips, cheese, olives, crisps, things to dip (carrots, peppers, bread sticks), then made a lemon drizzle, jam swiss roll and brownies.
Previous years have done BBQ pulled pork in the slow cooker (had enough of that now!), chilli in the slow cooker, lasagne; 10-12 adults plus various number of teenagers who may wander in and out...
home made sausage roll filling recipe (borrowed!) - 1 pack of sausage meat (or "vegetarian" sausage meat), 1 chopped red onion, 1/2pack stuffing mix, 1 tablespoon wholegrain mustard/left over cranberry sauce/pickle, all mixed together.
(Can't work out how to add a smiley ;))

Just us, lovely P and Q, so going to M&S tomorrow for one of their dine in deals. And some fresh orange juice - still have plenty of Fizz for the Buck.

We also get the M&S dine in deal and make things easy. Plus lots of the cheese and crackers we bought a ton of for the whole
Christmas break.

German market style sausages with warm baguettes, salad, coleslaw, dips, breadsticks. Followed by sticky toffee pudding. Cinnamon doughballs for the dc and a cheese board out later on. Then the diet starts.

Cinema food: frankfurters and bockwurst, finger rolls, ketchup and American mustard in squeezy bottles, piles of nachos coated in bright orange smoked cheese, sweet and salt popcorns, paper cups for ice cream, three different types of ice cream, chocolate, raspberry and butterscotch sauces, various toppings including hundreds and thousands, fruit, marshmallow pieces, toasted almonds, brownie pieces etc, fruit punch, Shandy, beer, and so on. Big bowls of pick and mix from Hardy’s. Any leftovers from the freezer that we didn’t eat at Christmas! Basically a retro kids party.
