“Make up” for 5 year old

Bought all presents but she wrote this on her Father Christmas letter last week and then told F.C. again today she wants a “make up box”. I’ve asked her and she’s adamant she wants a toy makeup kit. Any suggestions? (Wooden one? One nice sparkly eye shadow?)

They do it like a paint palette if that helps, you could do her a rainbow or so flowers for Xmas day

I remember being about six or seven (so only a year or so older than your dd) and having plastic 'play makeup'
There was lipstick, eyeshadow, blusher etc but it was all just pretend plastic stuff, nothing that could actually do anything.

Is that the sort of thing she's after?

Primark do kiddies makeup. My daughter wanted some young due to playing with older cousins. I got her a small eyeshadow selection and some sparkling lip salve. She loves playing with it, and is generally pretty good about looking after it. Her cousins also have management of make up rules, and I emphasise how she has to live up to the being older and responsible aspect of it all.

I got mine small pots of coloured fine glitter £11 for about 10 pots. She can sparkle herself up and use some as eyeshadows but it's not actually 'make up'

Mine has a "Frozen" set from Tesco. She is 4. She puts hers on, I put mine on. She obviously isn't allowed to leave the house wearing it but she likes putting it on.

My DD also has kiddies nail varnish so she can have rainbow coloured toe nails, she can peel it off herself without using solvent.

I found a face paint palette which has some glitter and tattoos which are a current obsession too, so I think that could be a good compromise

I bought a loads of Poundland makeup with a girls world type dollhead at that age.

She has a pink kids nail varnish from last birthday which she loves but comes off in water so a little disappointing (to her). I mainly don’t want her to be sad that F.C. didn’t bring anything from her list.

Dd1 put make up on a christmas list at 5. I am a non-make up wearing ardent feminist so I was not keen. In the end we got her a plasticy frozen themed kids make up set from Amazon and she was absolutely delighted.
