Which is kind of annoying as I thought it was looking lovely. But now my Evil Christmas Twitch is telling me Christmas would be so much better with a curtain of lights going up the stairs. Somebody slap me fangry

Stompythedinosaur Sun 17-Dec-17 12:16:11

Honestly save it for next year!

MrsMotherHen Sun 17-Dec-17 13:02:09

Do it still loads of time left fgrin

ScreamingValenta Sun 17-Dec-17 13:03:00

I bet your hall is lovely as it is! Those pics look OTT to me.

HillaryWinshaw Sun 17-Dec-17 13:03:57

Those pictures are shocking. Chav Central! I’m sure your place is lovely.

Mxyzptlk Sun 17-Dec-17 13:05:42

Ahahaha!

The stairs look awful. The windows are nice, tho.

Maudlinmaud Sun 17-Dec-17 13:06:52

I bought those for my sun room, it was Christmas over kill. I returned it. Look OK lit up at night but in the cold light of day, not so much.

Annwithnoe Sun 17-Dec-17 13:26:32

Personally I think lights should accentuate something, so they need to be half hidden, twinkling from behind something.
I don't like them as a feature by themselves. In the daytime you'd just see a lot of cable.
Show us what your hallway is like now. I bet it's lovely.

BadTasteFlump Sun 17-Dec-17 14:59:07

Ha well it transpires that I can't find the lights curtain I thought I had... so I was considering going out to buy one, but it looks cold out there grin

This is the entrance hall stairs currently - it's close up because I didn't realise how many photos I have on display until I tried to take a pic without any of them in...

BadTasteFlump Sun 17-Dec-17 15:01:55

And another one...

BestZebbie Sun 17-Dec-17 15:05:32

That is classier, in the daytime you will feel like a dolphin caught in a plastic net with the other one.

BadTasteFlump Sun 17-Dec-17 15:41:31

Ha that is such a good description - thank you for helping to totally put me off the idea fsmile

Betsy86 Sun 17-Dec-17 15:46:56

Your hallway looks lovely as it is!! Totally have banister envy haha.... merry Christmas xxx

BadTasteFlump Sun 17-Dec-17 15:50:26

Aw thanks Betsy - Merry Christmas to you too wine

theyoniwayisnorthwards Sun 17-Dec-17 15:58:09

Your hall looks classier and prettier the way it is!

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour Sun 17-Dec-17 15:59:36

I have bannister envy! Currently short term renting an upstairs flat so no stairs. The house we just sold had the most beautiful huge hallway and stairs with wooden bannister, I loved 'dressing' it at Christmas! The house we're buying in January has an enclosed staircase! Didn't even think about my purpose bought Christmas staircase garland (currently in storage!6. It'll have to have a new purpose next Christmas!

Annwithnoe Sun 17-Dec-17 16:10:30

I love yours.

PositivelyPERF Sun 17-Dec-17 16:23:52

Oh gad! All those lights! It's like the modern equivalent of too much tinsel. Horrible.

Your's is far nicer, and I'm not just saying that because mine's very similar to yours. 😉😁

hashtagelfie Sun 17-Dec-17 16:24:25

I once had a set of curtain lights that were the exact length to go around my living room in my old flat. They looked absolutely amazing and I miss it so much.
Ah maybe next year.

Bluntness100 Sun 17-Dec-17 16:26:43

See now I want a wall of lights going up my stairs,,,😫

BadTasteFlump Sun 17-Dec-17 16:55:30

Bluntness stop messing with my mind fconfused

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid Sun 17-Dec-17 16:59:38

I have zero taste when it comes to Christmas.

The hall lights look amazing. More is more IMO grin

TheRattleBag Sun 17-Dec-17 17:05:17

As long as they're warm white I don't think it's possible to have too many lights at Christmas!

user1492970817 Sun 17-Dec-17 17:41:25

That looks much more tasteful than a net of lights.Less is more as they say.

StillTryingHard Sun 17-Dec-17 17:51:07

Following with interest. I'm in a bungalow so vicarious stair dressing for me. Buy the lights! Do it!
