Where do you wrap your presents?

We moved to a house with an attic this year, and DCs presents have been stored up there. Tomorrow, DH has said he’ll look after the toddler while I do the wrapping, so i asked if he’d get the boxes down for me.his response was that I should do it up there, and when I pointed out it is cold, grubby (it’s a traditional attic without roof insulation and only partial boarding down), he had argued that it’s warm in the attic and that it would be logistically easier that way. When I pointed out that it didn’t seem very logical to me, he initially asked if it because I wanted him to take toddler out so I could relax in front on the TV, then asked if I am scared of the attic.

I didn’t handle it very well, admittedly, and put the phone down on him after he asked if I didn’t want to sit up there for several hours because I was scared.

I suppose what I really want to know is whether I should have just said okay, and sat up in the loft tomorrow, or whether other people would also bring the presents down, wrap them, then put them back up?

I’m the end, I have just been up there and got them all down myself, and will just have to hope the kids don’t spot them (all in sealed brown boxes, and now locked in bedroom).

Tell him to wrap the presents and see how great it is in the attic!

I wrap in the living room when dcs are at school and pre school or in our bedroom whilst dh keeps them at bay. There's no way I would want to do it in a dusty old attic.

I sit at the dining room table. I like having a surface to work on.

I wrap them when they are in school or in the evening when they are in bed. Always downstairs in front of the tv

I do mine on the living room floor. We keep them in a lockable broom closet in the hallway.

No way I would banish myself to the bloody attic.

I generally barricade myself in our bedroom to wrap the kids' presents. When they were little I literally barred the door. These days they just know not to come in if the door's shut.

Absolutely no way I'd sit up in a cold, dusty attic.

We wrap in the living room very late on Xmas eve after the kids have gone to bed, with a bottle of something nice to help the process!

I wrap in the bedroom with a glass of something red, and Christmas music on.

I've just done some wrapping in the bedroom. I would normally accompany it with a glass or two of something but I can't tonight as I've got to pick DD up from work later.

I wrap them on the landing whilst she is at school, then hide in the airing cupboard, no way I would sit up the loft doing all that.

I wrap in the living room when kids are in bed or, as they get older, when they're at school / clubs etc. I also try to partly wrap as I go so have just a few presents at a time.

My friend does hers in her attic but it's partially convered. There's no way I'd be doing it in ours where spiders reign it's dusty and cold.

They are stored in DDs cupboard with blankets draped over them. I bring them down very quietly whilst she naps and take them back up to hide when she wakes up. Ds6 is in school.

Although last week she woke up so I wrapped them on the dining table whilst she ate lunch, shes only 1 so doesn't realise but I did feel a but guilty so I hid each present whilst wrapping so she wouldn't actually see the gift lol. Even though if she did it probably wouldn't matter as she will have forgotten by Christmas day and probably won't even care on the day. I felt really bad that id exposed her to the real santa at such a young age just incase she turns out to have an incredible memory and remembers.

Nahh I wouldn't be wrapping in the attic!
DSD's gifts wrapped and stored at my parents thankfully, just ready for Santa to collect on Christmas Eve Grin
If DH told me the wrapping should be done in the loft I'd hand him the scissors and sellotape.

Mine are all in the attic too. No way would I wrap up there. I bring down a few down each evening, and wrap up to the kitchen table.

PS. Your husband is being a bit of a dick.

I wrap in the attic BUT it's fully heated and carpeted and our old dining table is up there so it's comfortable and perfect

Another vote for the living room, in front of the tv. That phone convo would have peed me off too tbh. Why not just do it in comfort?

My dh doesn’t like me going in the attic at all (sounds like yours - cold, filthy, half boarded...) never mind trying to make me wrap presents up there. Besides the presents would still have to come down after they’ve been wrapped so what point is he trying to make? Unless he’s going to get everyone up there on Christmas morning to open them in the attic too Grin
