The holy grail of men's stocking fillers...

Jedbartletforpresident · 12/12/2017 08:42

I need stocking filler ideas for DH which MUST be:

  • NOT food or drink related
  • small in size
  • cheap (preferably under £5)

I already have a new camelbak and book which will take up quite a bit of space hence the need for small items.

Planning on getting:
  • a nice bookmark
  • a loose change dish (struggling with this - don't want ceramic, would prefer wooden or leather/fake leather but struggling to find something cheap and small enough)
  • a men's folding shopping bag for him to keep in his car. (Have no idea if this exists)

Ooooh have you got any links for the nice bookmark? My OH would love one!

How about fancy beard oil / shaving cream, shower gels? One of those credit card sized multi-tools?

Magazines they don't usually buy but have time to read over Christmas:

I wrap: Private Eye, 442(whatever the football one is called), and Men's Health or GQ (the last one is a joke as he's a scruffy bugger)

If he's got a car then car shit - heated scraper (!), chamois leather, fluffy sponge to clean the inside windows (I don't know what they're called), air freshener.

I also buy lip balm, extra deodorants, nail clippers.

Magazines a brilliant idea! I was looking for ideas too. A private eye would be great!

Gloves with the special fingertip so you can use them with a smartphone? They had some for about £2 in Tiger last week

Does your DH wear glasses, these are £5 and £5.99 respectively Smile.

They are really handy. Apologies for the clunky links ....

Sorry, should have said: nothing shaving related. He's had radiotherapy this year on his face/neck so can't grow a beard at the minute and barely needs to shave at all. (It's a bit of a sore/sad subject - he misses his stubble)

He got a wallet ninja a couple of years ago and also got form card and sugru last year too so they're out.

I like the idea of a heated scraper for the car - we're in the NE Scotland so that would be really handy! Will it be small enough though?

Magazines too big I think and he doesn't wear glasses.

Keep the ideas coming!

Glittery this is the first bookmark that came up on Amazon when I searched for "bookmarks for men" - it'll do for me! It's better than a receipt from Sainsbury's which is what he usually uses!

De-icer, shower gel, choc money. They have those leather look trays on amazon, or in a department store.

A coaster? My DH always has a hot drink on the go. Not easy to find individual ones for sale online but quite a few in the shops, my local shopping centre has a stall selling really nice photo printed glass ones.

Ooh - a coaster is good! I have bought DS one from tiger (like a plain ceramic tile) for his bedroom - could get one of those for DH too! Thank you!

Oh and if anyone has any genius ideas for something which is shaped like an orange but which isn't actually an orange or a chocolate orange that would be great! I have been wracking my brains and can't think of anything. Tradition dictates a chocolate orange in the toe of everyone's stocking (because none of us like actual oranges) but there is no food that is enjoyable for DH right now since his cancer treatment so a chocolate orange is out. I'd love to replace it with something else which is a clear equivalent of possible

Molten brown to Xmas bauble shaped shower gel the same size as a choc orange. It's for men, a ginger and black pepper sent.

How about a puzzle / rubix cube?

keyring. Either nice and negatives one, novelty one or a photo one.

Pocket diary, nice pen, sticky notes.

Scratch card. Pack of cards, nice men's hand cream or hair product.

Book, mini alcohol bottles, gloves, cufflinks, novelty Xmas pocket tissues.

I got these socks a few weeks ago and they're super comfy. You could keep the socks (only do a women's version of this gift) and replace with some new socks for DH for your orange shaped gift.

A Lush bath bomb as an orange substitute? They don't have a choc orange one but there's a Xmas jumper one or a Xmas pud! Or you could just get a regular orange coloured one? uk.lush.com/products/christmas

I'm getting my brother a keyring that unscrews so you can keep a bank note in it, in case you ever run short of cash or lose your wallet. It'd fit your "small" brief.

I've got my dad a magnetic wristband to hold screws/screw driver bits etc whilst he's doing DIY. It was about £6 from Amazon.
