How to hang advent calendar

Daft question but made the DC homemade advent calendars with a kit, so small cardboard box for each day, with a ribbon through the top.

Don't now know how to display/hang them. Some of the gifts are heavier than others so not sure small pegs on a long ribbon will work. Could just line the boxes up on the window sill but it seems a shame not to hang them.

Got two of them so 48 boxes!

Any inspiration?

I have a command hook on either side of two bookcases and hang a stretch of ribbon between them. My advent buckets hang from that.

We also use command hooks to hang a branch in a window which I hang baubles from, but advent packages could easily hang from that too.

I've seen people hang them from a banister.

That's really useful Stompy, thank you.

I've got some pretty, thick, stiff ribbon and I'll have an experiment! Just worried about the boxes with heavier items in (tiny pot of jam in one) will open or where the ribbon is run through the top it'll break.

When I have heavy items they rest on a shelf of the bookcase (but are still attached with ribbon so it's clear when they're meant to be opened).

I agree jam will be tricky to hang!
