I fancied changing a couple of my pictures in my living room for something more Christmassy for the season but I’m struggling to find anything suitable.

Needs to be about 30ins wife to look right but there’s not much out there?

No never. Our pictures stay the same all year. We have a tree and ceiling decorations for Christmas.

MrsHathaway · 22/11/2017 13:32

Only one: in the dining room. We take down the usual big picture and instead have a big frame in which the DC make a collage from last year's Christmas cards.

Additionally a nativity scene goes up but in a space that's empty the rest of the year.

Myfanwyprice · 22/11/2017 13:33

I change a couple, I’ve got a nice picture for my porch. I also put all my usual ornaments away and replace them with Christmassy ones - I love getting the Christmas ones out, but equally love putting them away and remembering how much I love my usual ones.

In the lounge only, I have a few favourite family photographs. I change them with the seasons e.g. nice autumnal park and trees, then Christmas setting, then spring in the park, then summer beaches etc.

I do. I cross stitch and love making Christmas stuff so have lots. I frame them all so have a selection to put out in December. Need to stop stitching - I'm running out of picture hooks!

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 22/11/2017 14:37

not previously , but last year my lovely, slight crazy neighbour got me this absolutely belter for Christmas, so I'm trying to convince DH to make room for it this year Grin.

I have a pair of lovely framed Santa and Mrs Claus drawings that I swap with some framed family photos. I can’t remember where I got them though.

DubiousCredentials · 22/11/2017 14:41

I don’t but I’d love to. There a loads of el cheapo pictures in The Range that I’m coveting at the mo.

I do, I have a few wall hangings/pictures which I picked up from the range, I also swap the cushions for Christmas ones Smile.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 22/11/2017 14:53

Some, but it's not intentional it's just things we've bought, or received as a gift, that we need to hang up so it makes more sense to swap something (which then goes in to loft with decoration Boxes) than to put up a nail or temporary hook

i do, i bought some really nice pictures with twig frames a few years ago, ive also got a wooden painted board with all the reindeer names on, and some other bits and bobs. i dont take the mirror down though

MrsHathaway · 22/11/2017 16:45

TheTurnOfTheScrew - sod DH: do It! That's fabulous!

It reminds me that our telly turns into one of those come December when Sky release their "Christmas scenes" which are effectively screensavers. Crackling log fire or window on to snowy hill landscape last year there were even kittens climbing in and out of a box. Super kitsch but very cosy.

BaconAndAvocado · 22/11/2017 17:28

We take our normal picture down in the den and replace it with a very gorgeous light up painting of a deer. It sounds horrible but is very marvellous.

BaconAndAvocado · 22/11/2017 17:28

And change cushions, obviously.

goose1964 · 22/11/2017 17:32

yes we have a tapestry that we bought in Estonia which goes on the back of the livingroom door & we have some framed Edwardian Christmas cards that we han on the wall - they cost £10 in a charity shop for 3 frames including 5 cards

73kittycat73 · 22/11/2017 19:28

Have a look on Ebay and Amazon for 'snow canvas.' I have two of them up all year. (I figured people have pictures of flowers and sunny days up all year so why couldn't I do the opposite? ) I love winter/snow though. Xmas Smile

MrsPear · 22/11/2017 21:01

Should I admit to my terrible crimes against interior design?!

I have 3 pictures in the hall that change with the seasons - currently they are autumn. I just swap pictures round. They all store in frame.

I have 2 framed pictures - they are actually the last Christmas cards sent by grandparents that died or are lost to dementia. Sounds morbid but it has their handwriting.

Oh and cushions, ornaments (only have 3) and throws are changed.

Basically from the first onwards my living room slowly turns into a Victorian parlour / father Christmas' grotto!

Shnazzyshot · 23/11/2017 11:10

I change the throws and cushions on the sofas and swop all the ornaments for Christmas ones.

All the beds get Christmas duvets too.

I can't wait! Grin

Helena17 · 23/11/2017 11:48

Yes, we do. We take down family pics and paintings and put lights and red shimerring decors. It's always a good feel when you see the decors and you know its Christmas time once again :)
