Cant go wrong with maxi micro might be a bit bug and expensive but will last and last. If you need smaller / cheaper a mini micro will be better fit but will need a new one in 2 years time for sure. My ds is same age and am wearing out hand me down micro but would love to buy the maxi one. He can ride his brothers.

DS will be five just after Christmas and we have bought him a Micro Sprite scooter. He has had a Mini Micro since his second birthday and had ridden it everywhere (including down shallow steps, attempted it on the beach etc.) and it is still going.

We decided on the Sprite rather than the maxi, as he could balance really well on it in the shop, and I suspect he won’t ‘outgrow’ it as quickly as the three wheeler, in terms of him thinking it babyish. I also assumed it would be good practice if he wants a stunt scooter in future.

Whichever you choose, I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed with Micro brand model.

Micro sprite if 2 wheels and maxi micro if 3 wheels. They are the best and last for years.

The maxi Micro has an adjustable handle bar and at its lowest setting it is the same height as the mini micro. So I would definitely get it for an almost 5 yr old. It’s a bit heavier and sturdier than the mini micro so can cope with almost adult weight limit so lots of longevity.

We have a jd bugg junior street scooter. Well we actually have two, we bought one for dd1 about three Christmases ago and it's still doing really well. Bought a second for dd2 last year they were both almost 4 when they got them and have adjustable handles dd1 is almost 7 and it's still not too small for her. Good scooter and isn't as bumpy on the pavements as some I have seen.

Both my DDs were given Micro Sprite scooters for their 5th birthdays- fantastic scooters and, in the case of DD1, still going strong nearly 6 years later

I got a second hand micro on eBay for £12 before this new one, absolutely worth it!

We’ve had several scooters too and the micro ones are so so much better than any of the others. They are 100% worth the money.

Maxi micro - worth every penny did had hers at 5 and still uses it at 10. Also had a micro sprite at 8, but generally still orders maxi micro but both are excellent scooters.
