DD also has her birthday soon after Xmas too. I’ve got her an Amazon Echo but struggling with other ideas. She likes stationery and crafting things but we have lots of those! Thanks.

Would say that the girls at the primary school where I volunteer are obsessed with Smiggle, but you probably have that already!
What about something for outside? A tent, hula hoop, pogo stick, roller skates .......
Kindle.
Books.

DD10 has gone mad on Sylvanian families so we've bought her a few big sets and some accessories, she also wanted the singing Jo Jo Siwi doll so we've got her one of those and she's getting a decent camera as well(she has a real natural talent for photography)which she'll love.

What other things is your DD into music, books, animals, films?

Lots of the primary age girls seem to be going mad for Claires stuff and they're constantly having sales on at the moment like buy 3 get 3 free.

A couple of years ago we bought our 3 youngest an animal adoption pack each for they're favourite animals and they loved those.

OP, has your DD discovered "Wreck This Journal", by Keri Smith?

I'm buying it for an 11 yr old relative (like your DD: very into stationery/art/crafts). My friend's 9yr old son loved his.

Brilliant, subversive fun. Smile
And shouts loud and clear the important message that it's ok to approach things differently and not demand perfection of yourself the whole time. (Is good de-stresser for adults too, BTW).

(YouTube demo to give you a flavour...needn't watch the entire 10mins!).
Amazon sells it for £9ish.

I know you mentioned your house is already full of crafting "stuff", but this is more like an arty keepsake, not simply another book to add to the masses!

Autumnal, thank you, what a fab idea. I’ve ordered one for my goddaughter.

I've got the opposite with my DD10... I've seen so much that she would love but I need to limit things a bit. She's also very arty but we have loads of that stuff too. On my list of things for her is:

Instax Mini 9 Camera - prints as you take the pic and you can buy "photo sheets" with such fun borders!
Unicorn poop cushion - for her bed
Reality goggles - Real Feel fishing one
Pineapple pen holder - for her desk
Inflatable Unicorn - for the pool (we live in SA)
Surfboard & wetsuit (will see about this)
Emoji Top Trumps (stocking filler)
Unicorn washi tape dispenser (so cute!!) - for her desk

Every time I go out I see something else I want to get her so I really need to reign myself in!!

I am totally stuck with my (soon to be) 10 year old dd so please keep the ideas coming. It is her birthday in two weeks and she is having a laptop. She has asked for a couple of other things which grandparents are buying.
She is not "girly" in any traditional sense - no interest in bloggers, make-up etc.
She doesn't (and never has) played with any toys and is quite serious really so has no appreciation of
She loves to read and write although we have lots of stationary and books already
She loves sport but again has everything she needs.

So far I have got:
A nice water bottle
A scarf
Harry Potter quiz book
Harry potter stamps set
Smiggle pencil case
Top Model tshirt designer book
Charcoal Sketching set
Caligraphy Set
Sudoku book

These are all stocking filler bits but I can't think of anything as a main present. Help!!

thedcbrokemybank What about an experience for your DD?

You can get some amazing days out through those, really unusual things which it sounds like your DD might appreciate,or if there's something she wants to learn to do or a new hobby she has interest in.

Primark have tons of Harry potter things in at the moment, bedding,pj's,clothes ect or there are Harry Potter days out now as well.

This is really nice as well

Thedcbrokemybank what about a kindle paperwhite?

Report
thedcbrokemybank · 18/11/2017 18:54

Thanks for the suggestions (and sorry for hijack). I will definitely get the HP tin.
She already has a Kindle but not a paper white so could look into that.
I would love to get her an experience but she is one of four so I worry that a. The others will all be opening "stuff" and she will feel left out and b. The others will all want to do it too. Might have a look into a baking workshop or something though as she does love to cook and the others wouldn't be too fussed by that.

My just turned 10 is still very into Our Generation dolls so she's getting some of their stuff. I absolutely loved the Keri Smith stuff @AutumnalLeaves38 so I have added that to the list. The finish this book and explore the world. Amazing!

dd was 10 last week
she wanted sylvanians and lego friends which she got.

She also got a craft thing I out together myself, which was very well received and we have done the first one:
Hobbycraft sell letter of the alphabet, about 8" high, 3D look like brown cardboard. You can decorate them in loads of differnt ways. Our Hobbycraft have a load up on the wall behind the tills all decorated differently.
So I got the letters in her name, and made up a decoration pack for each letter eg:
A - bright purple and blue peacock print decoupage paper with mirror sequins.
B - brightly coloured feathers in 3 colours, plus huge googley eyes
C - coloured bottons and paint (paint background and cover in buttons)
D - leopard print decoupage paper, with eyes and ears and a tail. (the actual letter has feet - M - so the feet can be made into real feet)
E - top half covered in blue tissue paper, bottom half covered in glue and dipped in sand. Stick on mini shells etc.

It is loads better than a generic craft kit.
