Christmas

Is your tree up?

I usually put my tree up mid Dec but last year it was 01 Dec. However I am sick and tired of browsing in shops only to find that what I want to buy is already out of stock and there will be no more. It seems that people buy all their decorations in Sept and Oct.

I needed to do an inventory of what I have and needed to measure my tree for a skirt ready for a shopping trip tomorrow. I thought sod it, the boxes are out so lets get the tree up.

Anyone else got an early Christmas tree?

No. But like you I’ve had to get the Christmas decorations out as I’ve got last years M and S calendar back there and I want to stuff it for my sister.

And there’s now 8 boxes in my living room of decorations!

But it’s too early for me. And I’m buying a real tree this year. So I will wait.

Insomnibrat · 16/11/2017 12:16

Similar to you really OP. We put one of our 4 trees up (complete overkill) to make sure it fit the space it was intended for. Once it was up, it was up....so I've just left it there. It isn't decorated yet though!

Eolian · 16/11/2017 12:19

God no. November is not Christmas time. My (real) tree will go up about 10 days before Christmas.

BanyanTree · 16/11/2017 12:20

Yes, mine will be a work in progress too. 4 trees! That is fantastic. I have 2 plus other decorations.

I am a big soppy child over Christmas. Only problem is that once my trees are up I may be tempted to start cracking open the Christmas booze and treats.

Not yet, ours always goes up on 1st December. I’ve just bought a new 9ft high one though so I’m going to need more lights and decorations!

Paddington68 · 16/11/2017 12:24

One's up all year as that is a real tree outside.
Usually go for the first Sunday in December.
Three trees, yes I know.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/11/2017 13:20

Mines not up, will go up probably on the evening of 1st Dec or 2nd depending on how I feel. I've bought and made lots of decorations already though- a tree skirt from the range (£6.50!!!!), loads of ribbon decorations, some fir cone decorations, and a quilted wreath, plus bought some new lights and a reindeer for my growing herd collection. I love Christmas and can't wait to put it all up, but it takes days and I need help from Dh so he has to be on board

TheNaze73 · 16/11/2017 13:25

2 weekends before Xmas. Think it spoils it personally being up any longer but, each to their own

hotbutteredcrumpetsandtea · 16/11/2017 13:26

Of course not, it's november.

I saw houses with trees up on halloween. That's just sick.

MonaChopsis · 16/11/2017 13:27

No but DD's is Grin Her room, her choice!

The main decorations go up the last weekend of November.

Whitecovers · 16/11/2017 13:29

Won't be putting my tree up for a while but I'm going to hang some fairy lights up from my ceiling in the hallway to cosy it up in the next couple of days.

2anddone · 16/11/2017 13:37

We have 5 trees...they go up the first weekend inDecember but given half the chance dc would put their 2 up now!! We have a lot of outdoor decorations too so they will go up the week before as it’s too much to do it all on one weekend! I did get some decs out of the loft though as dc have new trees this year and wanted to look at their old decorations to see what they need to get for their new tree. I love Christmas Grin

NigellasStash · 16/11/2017 13:46

No.

Eolian · 16/11/2017 14:07

I am a big soppy child over Christmas.

I love Christmas too. That's exactly why I don't want to spoil it by celebrating it for almost two months! It makes it less of an event and more of a marathon.

endehors · 16/11/2017 14:17

No. Probably from mid December onwards. I sometimes buy it a bit earlier and leave outside, though. We've also got a tree from last year growing in the garden.

Though we do have winter decorations up for approx three months so aren't missing out.

Migraleve · 16/11/2017 14:20

No. Because it's November.

December is the month that contains Christmas so Christmas should be contained in December.

HandbagCrazy · 16/11/2017 15:43

No but my friend is helping her Nanna put hers up this weekend!
Also, dsis and dnephew (8yo) are currently having an ongoing disagreement as he wants his tree up in his room now and she is adamant it is too early.

I usually aim for around 5th Dec but hoping to do it early this year as we’re going away for Christmas and I want to enjoy them a lot before we leave!

QuopQuop · 16/11/2017 15:51

Yes! Mine went up last weekend!

Winter wonderland opens tomorrow so it is okay 😆🎄

Saladd0dger · 16/11/2017 15:53

I put my tree up last week Grin I love snuggling up in the evening with the lights twinkling ❤️

Carebear1357 · 16/11/2017 16:00

2nd December for us but I'll take it all down on 30th.

trumptown · 16/11/2017 16:07

We have a real tree each year, a big one, and DP insists on it going up the first weekend in December so that we get our money's worth! We take it down on 1 Jan though, because it's DS's birthday in early Jan and we like to have a clear break between the 2. The tree would still be up on his birthday if we followed tradition.

Juanbablo · 16/11/2017 16:08

No tree yet. We usually put it up mid Dec but I think we will do it the first weekend this year.

Ours goes up the beginning of December. I can't wait.

buzzbuzzbumblebee · 16/11/2017 16:16

DH has given me permission and DD keeps asking.. I would love to put it up but effort haha!

I know 3 people who have put theirs up.

I told my kids we could do it next weekend.

Sunflow · 16/11/2017 16:22

Nope, but only because my DH won't let me (meany!). I'd have put it up last week if I'd had my way!
