Has anyone got any advice for Black Friday?
Which websites have the best deals etc when does it start ?
I’m after a Nintendo Switch and a micro mini scooter and then some other little bits like some xmas clothes for kids ( and maybe some new jeans for me! Ahem)

Never shopped on Black Friday before !

I'm interested too but sadly no advice. Will you get more replies posting in chat?

Amazon was really very poor last year. I remember previous years being really good with TVs, games consoles and kitchen equipment but last year was really random stuff that no one really wanted.

Cyber Monday from memory was a bit better but most shops did some kind of sale anyway so it was a case of checking frequently. It just was a bit meh last year.

Yes Amazon was rubbish all round last year. It used to be fantastic such a disapointment.

Beware so called offers, as you should with any sale.

I've been tracking the price of what I'm after (Fitbit) so will know if it's reduced enough to warrant it on the day.

Sometimes there are better sales before and after BF rather than on it.

Join Prime maybe for the Amazon pre deals? Last year it was a bit tatty though.

I think BF here is just commercial nonsense and not really amazing.

Ah ok I don’t think the switch will be reduced much anyway as it’s new but husband is determined to wait to see the ‘amazing’ deals!!!??!

If you're new to Very I think their 20% discount for new customers works on the Switch and the Micro scooters.

I'm after a Switch too and any Lego deals that may crop up, but last year was really poor compared to the previous two years I've been BF shopping

I’m after a washing machine so hopping to get a good deal online.

I think it’s worth keeping an eye out for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, if you are going to buy something anyway, but it’s a bit meh.

I’d recommend doing your research in advance, so check out the items you want, prices, models numbers and delivery prices, so you can compare deals. Most shops will have similar deals, give or take a couple of £££.

Clothes shops often do 20% off type deals. Same as they do throughout the year.

I’m not sure if you’ll get a deal on a micro scooter though, as the research I did a few years ago suggested they didn’t get good deals (you may get a 20% off everything in store type deal, but that’s as good as it will get).

we bought our tv in Black Friday last year having researched the sales for a year (it was a big ticket spend!). It was def the best sale for what we wanted. We tracked a load of companies that were offering the model we wanted and then got JL to price match! We were trying to do this with a MacBook too but stock ran out, so it is a bit of a gamble. This year I'm hoping for a HP Sprocket reduced but looks like that reduction has already happened so think I've missed the boat!

Never had a very account so will look into that but they haven’t got the one I want for the scooter
The switch is the thing I want a discount on as it’s so expensive !
But I’ve been monitoring deals online for a while so hopefully will know if the Black Friday ones are any good !?

I very much doubt the Nintendo switch will be discounted as it's new out and everyone wants one

By 'new out' I meant this year. I don't think I'm wrong in saying it's very unlikely to be discounted as it sells so well at the current price. As others suggest, there may be bundle deals to be had though

Silly question? How do you track prices? do you just keep checking websites or can you set something up? we've got our eyes on some expensive toothbrushes but hoping to knock a few quid off!

I'm also looking for a Nintendo Switch. The cheapest I've seen is £269. I might not buy one at that price, I'd rather play less than £250,as next Christmas it will be much cheaper. If anyone sees any deals on this, please post here.

I'm after fifa 18 but I really don't want to spend £50 on a game that becomes old in a year! Shock

The Switch will not be discounted, most retailers will not discount the cost of actual games consoles as they make next to no profit on them anyway (they’re just a way to get people to buy the games and accessories which do make the profit). The best you’ll get is a few games with it cheaper/free as a Black Friday deal, and if you’re not bothered about other games, just try and get the console and Mario kart now. You might be able to get them secondhand (or the game at least) for a few quid cheaper in a Game or CEX store.

Black Friday is usually a disappointment, it's rare that any top Christmas presents such as the switch will be on offer. White goods are often reduced (I bought a tumble dryer and fridge freezer last year), Amazon will probably reduce their tablets and the echo but most of their lightening deals are rubbish (old stock they need to shift), the first 2 years they did it there were much better deals on things like dvd's, consoles and Lego but it's not as good now.

I’m hoping to bag a discounted Christmas tree... ideally from Wilkos!

A couple of years ago I got an iPad mini for DH with about £50 off, but I think 'real' bargains are few and far between. Offers are generally no different to other times of the year or those available with discount codes. The only difference to me seems to be that lots of companies websites crash!
