Presents for girls - £5 budget

There are lots of girls in my extended family and we (the parents of all of the children) agreed a couple of years ago to just spend £5 per child. I must admit I struggle with it a little bit as I can't find 'nice' presents for £5. I've got in the habit of spending a quid or 2 more and getting them a book each but I'm so bored of it so I'm sure they are!

What other presents could I get for a fiver? The girls are 11, 9, 9, 6, 5, 3 and 8 months.

Claire's accessories were doing three sales bits for £5, may be something good in there.

Primark does tinker bell purses for £4, earrings for £2, Harry Potter badges & jewellery £3/£5, nice socks - loads of bits, I find them really handy for stockings.

Failing that could everyone agree to give cash -all those £5s add up?

  • Play doh or a toy vehicle for the little one.
  • Glittery bouncy ball, scooter tassles, or small stamp set for the 3 year old
  • Beads and thread set, or else games on '2 for £10' at the works e.g. guess who, penguins, or uno for the 5 and 6 year old.
  • Fun stationary or bits from clares accessories for the older ones

Thank you all. Some great ideas here. I think a trip to Clare's will be in order. Also seen some stuff in hobbycraft that might be winners. The one I'm really clueless on is the 8 month old. She has so many toys from her big sister, her Gran knits loads of stuff so no shortage of hats and cardies. Maybe some kind of board book. I can't remember what 8 month olds can do...is she too young for something like bath crayons?

A bath book!
Ours has been passed down the family and is still going strong 20 years down the line. No mould!

11, 9, 9, 6, 5, 3 and 8

Asda has 3 for 2 on some gifts and their makeup sets were lovely for £6 and £3 so could be suitable for 11 and the two 9 year olds.
They (Asda) had bath play doh sets with mouldable soap which was £6 also on 3 for 2. That would do the Younger 3. Then baby gets a bath book.
Plus sweets if money leftover.

(Trying not to repeat the suggestions above)

Older girls: slime. You can buy glittery, glow-in-the-dark, scented, colour-changing and even magnetic. The price can vary, depending on brand or if you buy it in-store or online, but a decently sized tin should be in budget.

There's also a groupon deal for £10 Starbucks for £5 (so 3 milkshakes/hot chocs?) if that's something the 11-yr-old would like... but I believe it is an e-voucher so you'd need to check how that works.

Ok, so this is easy... CLAIRE'S!!!

I looooove Claire's and so does my DD10... it just so happens that they have an online special at the moment, "buy one, choose one almost anything"... it doesn't apply to Ty (which is buy one and get another half price" and doesn't apply to Pusheen but there is SO much to choose from and for all ages you need... really cute and pretty things.

This backpack, for example, has already been reduced from £25 to £15 and then if you buy one you get another free, so for the two 9 year olds (for example) you'll be spending £7.50 each on a £25 each gift! You could shop all day :)

Well worth having a good look through everything.
