Looking for inspiration for books to buy dd 7 (nearly 8) this Christmas. What is on your daughters (book) list?

Dd just turned 8 recently. Books she’s enjoyed over the last 6 months:

Castle Hangnail by I think Ursula Vernon
A couple of The Land of Stories books, Chris Colfer
Some Roald Dahl - The Witches, The BFG
Milo and one dead angry Druid (can’t recall the author but it’s a 3 or 4 book series so she’ll get another at Christmas)
The Lottie Lipton adventures - about a 9 year old who lives in I think the British Museum
Some of the Ramona books
She’s started a series called The Witch Wars by Sibel Pounder which she says are good and I can’t really think what others!

You’ll probably get lots of recommendations for David Williams and she’s read some but I personally think they’re overrated. There are better books out there just by less heavily publicised authors!

I tend to look online at the book depository or book People then have a look at reviews on Amazon where you can “look inside” to read a couple of pages. It helps get a feel for whether she might find it interesting.

Thanks Coco I will try your tip with Amazon as have never done that and definitely think it will be helpful here. Going to take her to a bookshop and see what she’s drawn to as well as it’s rare we get the opportunity to do that, plus we’ve got so many books here at home that we didn’t really need to before now!

Dd likes the multi storey tree house books, and a series by Debbie gliori called witch baby and me has gone down well recently.
She is getting the boy who saved xmas/girl/new one set for December which we will read together.
She also liked my old copy of Bambi and Bambis children too recently which was lovely as they were my favourites!!!

My 7 yo loved the Humphrey series of books by Betty Birney. I’ve read a few with him and I think they’re very nice too!
