Cotton Wool Snow

Have any of you used cotton wool to make a snow base for a Christmas village? If so, where did you get if from so that it was big enough to cover a coffee table? Or do you just use small rolls and hope the joins don't show? I remember my Ex MIL's looking lovely, with no obvious joins, but I never thought to ask her where she got it from!

If you want a continuous piece for the base I would suggest going to a fabric shop and checking out the various types of wadding used for quilting rather than trying to get a sheet of cotton wool.
