Well, they cost a little bit more than a bic!!

Does anyone have any suggestions of how I might be able to obtain one at a slightly more bargainous rate?

Look at local auction houses. My husband often comes across them.

CamperVamp Sat 14-Oct-17 17:00:52

Wow! Does he know how much they actually cost?

Sgtmajormummy Sat 14-Oct-17 17:01:42

Don't get him the smaller model. It's not officially stated but it's generally seen as the lady's version...

My god! Thats an expensive thing to chew the end and lose the cap of!

They dont look that impressive to me, what does he like about them?.. is he a handwriting person, or a brand fan?

I’ve got a Waterman fountain pen. I’ve had it for more than 20 years. I use it every day and it cost £40. I love it.

Try Ebay - though even one with a company logo might be over £100.

£2000? Does it fart unicorns?

Sgtmajormummy Sat 14-Oct-17 17:22:46 sells the more reasonable models.

Convince him that they’re rubbish! Apparently you’ve heard they write terribly! What you need darling is a Parker wink

What’s your usual budget for gifts for each other?

Gruach Sat 14-Oct-17 17:26:52

What's the point of the ballpoint? It's the Montblanc fountain pen nib that's worth paying for.

Youcanttaketheskyfromme Sat 14-Oct-17 17:27:05

What do they do that a bic doesn't ?

For that price I'd want it to write me a best selling novel as well.

iklboo Sat 14-Oct-17 17:29:49

Tell him you want <insert favourite hot actor> and you'll ask him to bring the pen with him when he comes.

Sparkletastic Sat 14-Oct-17 17:31:18

Tell him you were thinking more along nice jumper, book, dvd and bottle of scotch lines.

FizzyGreenWater Sat 14-Oct-17 17:34:06

Make him a Mont Blanc pudding and stick a Parker pen in it and claim you misheard?

buckeejit Sat 14-Oct-17 17:35:51

Why?? Fil bought DH one some years ago-if I could find it I could sell it to you & buy myself some useful jewellry!

handslikecowstits Sat 14-Oct-17 17:37:55

"Sorry Darling, that's too expensive."

Sgtmajormummy Sat 14-Oct-17 17:40:07

I see we're getting into the "£2000 for a handbag!" mindset.

DH collects pens from all walks of life, starting with quirky giveaways, through to well designed school equipment, right up to collectors' items.

Nothing wrong with wanting a nice pen.

Stopyourhavering Sat 14-Oct-17 17:41:31

I got my dh one when he qualified/ passed bar exams 15 yrs ago.....he uses it nearly every day. Says it's the best pen he's ever had. He's left handed and always used to have problems getting a decent pen
Buy's a great investment

Tiddlywinks63 Sat 14-Oct-17 17:46:16

😳 Blimey!
I've got one somewhere, never used it....... Surely nobody pays £2k for a flipping pen?
How the other half live!
