Can anyone remember when all the Christmas magazines start to come out? I've started to pull out my old ones to start getting some inspiration, but buying the new ones is one of those things I get ridiculously excited about!!

Apparently there's some Christmas stuff in next month's Good Housekeeping. Not the full shebang, but gearing up!

Got to love GH magazine! I always keep all mine, and am currently leading through 2014 issue 🙈

They all come out at the end of October as far as I can remember. It's the November issues that are the Christmas ones. Love the good food one!

Argh I did see one in Tesco but can't remember which one. If I go back I'll let you know! I thought about getting it 😳

I think BBC good food have a handmade Christmas one out, there was an ad for it in this months mag.

Ooh I think they come out abut Guy Fawkes for the Christmas issues but the November one does have some 'get ahead' recipes .

My plan (and I say this every year but never actually do it) is to buy them all in Nov, stash them away and spend a quiet morning in late Nov going through them all with a pen and notepad to take notes.
Then I'll totally ignore them all and cook what I always do

But I'm always on the look for new traditions and add one every year.

Last year I took out a readly subscription for the Christmas magazines. It saved me a small fortune as I usually buy them all and the subscription fee was about £8p/m IIRC.

I got the Good Food handmade Christmas one yesterday, had a quick look through, looks good

I've read through the Good Food one already, there are a few nice-sounding main and side dishes but the section I've turned down the most corners of is the children's baking one. Nothing revolutionary but very doable, lots of easy favourites in one place, like pastry stars and peppermints.

The magazine I'm really waiting for is the Prima Makes Christmas special though. I love it!

Not sure when it comes out, I seem to remember last year it was one of the first on the shelves?

Stop it! I am NOT buying any this year. I have a pile of old ones. The recipes are all the same. I never actually make anything from a magazine. I use Pinterest.

I flicked through the good food one today, mostly repeat recipes from the last few years... although I'll probably still buy it!

I've promised DH I won't buy any after buying two Christmas cookery books after reading the 'What's your favourite cookery book thread' . I have a pile of old ones. I'll be fine. I won't get twitchy. Maybe.

lindsey I love Readly too. It's so much cheaper. I've actually just dropped my subscription but will get it again around November.

I was going to buy the good food one today, until I saw it was £5.99. For a magazine!

I usually buy Red and Marie Claire and take an afternoon to read them. Not really into food magazines.

I've taken out the good housekeeping subscription now (£6 for 6 issues plus free emma bridgewater mug!) as it included the Christmas special - can't wish to get it! It had the dispatch dates listed when I took out the subscription, but it didn't log in my mind when the date was!

Gone back and found it...

Christmas good house keeping mag should be delivered last week of October, so imagine that's when it hit the shops too

Tootsie that is an excellent idea, do you have a link to the offer which includes the mug?

@starsinyourpies I'm no good at doing this link lark, so apologies that it will come up super long! Hope it works!
