Stocking prezzie ideas?

Hey I know it seems early but I like to get bits and bobs throughout the year for less strain on the finances.

Any ideas on toys for a 2 1/2 year old girl's stocking?

So far I've got her:
This year I've spent just under £40 and got my DD age 2 10 prezzies a from Santa.

Hamster in a Ball
Large Pony toy with hair and accessories
Disney Princess fleece blanket with sleeves
Sofia the First bookset
Frozen Microphone
Sand Art thing in the water
Colour Magnetic Drawing Board
Fairy Wings and Wand set
Mermaid Steffi doll
Play Doh set.

I wasn't sure if it was enough and was wondering what else I could get her toy wise?

Ooh following! I have a son who will be 4 my Xmas and a daughter who will be 1/2.

I've just ordered a load of biff and chip books for son. I intend to put them away for xmas. He can't read yet, but I would like to try and help him before school age.

Do you have a home bargains near you? I went in recently and they had loads of my little pony and trolls items for around £5.

Your stocking sounds very full already mind x

Wacky glasses for the dressing up box
Bath bombs (glittery or coloured go down best)
Fluffy socks
Hair accessories
Small toy cars/trains etc
Crayons/pencils

Not sure we have a Home Bargains but they're website often seems a bit naff. I don't wanna overdo pony stuff as she's not mad on it but think she'd love the one we got her. Got a B&M and they can be good once in a while :). I don't tend to do the toiletries or things like that I've always liked the idea of presents being toys and exciting. Just wanted more bargain but decent toy ideas.

I don't do big gifts in the stocking, it's more of a 'starter before the main course of presents' kind of thing!

Mine will possibly have:
One big gold coin/mini choc figure
Blind bag (Probably Tsum Tsum's this year)
Orange
Personalised pencil case & pencils
Small toy (MLP/Dinosaur/Car/Knight /Animal)
Outfit for the day.
Book.

I saw in a previous thread that someone suggested a disposable camera, which is a fab idea! I just don't know if anywhere still develops them?

Mine are 11 and 4, I used to overstuffed the stocking with random crap but tbh they find it all over-whelming and aren't particularly interested in "stuff"and I'm sick of binning unwanted crap 3 months later so now I keep it simple and they seem to prefer it!

They have;
Coloured bath fizzers /Lynx set
Christmas socks
Mini pencils&colouring book /DIY London bus model
Flipping Spider-Man /Fart putty
Chocolate coins
Kids CD /Electronic bookmark
£10 Argos /Google play

Will probably add a watch and magazine or something to these nearer the time but try not to go mad (even though I could buy all the cool things I see but it's pointless really!) :o

My son loves those £2.50 little surprise toys (you can get them in trolls, Thomas the tank, super heroes etc) so I think I'm going to put some of those in his stocking.

I never put expensive things in stockings, it's more choccies, socks, little bits (as they get older it will be smelliest etc)

Apart from the other stocking post that has already been bumped, I know there is at least 1 more with really good ideas - I will try and find that to bump it too. Otherwise, I will be back here with my bumper list of ideas (culled from various sources over the years - and always intended as a way to gather ideas suited to you and your current crop of stocking recipients - not intended that you give all, or even a large proportion, of the ideas at once!).

See I'm looking for toy ideas really. I don't do big toys for a stocking as to me the stocking is exciting cos you get loads, then mum and dad get you only a few things but they're the big ones. So far I've actually spent under £40 on the stocking as I'm a good bargain finder but her main prezzies are gonna be a stinger! I get so excited about my daughter's prezzies :).

Duplo toys (there are little sets for €4.99 and €9.99 on the lego shop website) - I get small Lego city sets for DD which are great or the Lego mini figures (for older DCs than 2!)
Bubbles
Crayons and a few free printable colouring sheets from the web (Christmas pictures, or her favourite characters etc)
Rubber ducks or other bath toys
A ball
Small soft toy (teddy or another animal)
Set of clothes or "doll's toys" or other accessories for a doll (if she already has a doll)
Something for a kitchen or shop set - like extra food set, or a pot or bag to carry groceries (if you already have a toy kitchen or shop or cash register, this is great to keep the interest going)
Toy cars
An add on to any other toys or sets she already has
Finger paints or other craft stuff (kid-safe scissors, pritt stick, coloured paper, paper plates to do stuff with, lollipop sticks etc)

Don't forget a book of some sort - I always think a book is a necessary item in a stocking!

And it doesn't all need to be toys and fun stuff - I always have a mix of fruit and sweets in there, and some "useful" things like hair bobbins etc.

And as I got lost in other stocking threads and never found the one I wanted, here's a few ideas from my "master stockings ideas" document (ranging from babies to very mature adults ideas all mixed together so ignore any that seem odd)
Action figure
Small dolls
Hot wheel s
Yo-yo
Slinky
Silly putty or play-doh
Sidewalk chalk
Silly straws
Small lego sets
Happy meal toys
Army men
Plastic dinosaurs/jungle animals
Doll clothes/Barbie clothes
Glow Bracelet
Bouncy ball
Small jigsaw or sliding puzzle
Character band aids
Character toothbrush
Flavored toothpaste
Fingerpaints
Bathtub crayons
Toys for the bathtub
Juice box
Drink bottle/cup
Baby toys/teethers
Art supplies
Foam stamps
Piggy bank
Marbles
DVD
CD - eg. kids songs for car journeys
Toy Rhinestone Ring
Hot Wheel Car
Small Puzzle (Taken out of the box.)
Erasers
Dollar Bill (or 10 dimes to make it rattle.)

I would only get her stocking things that you are happy with her playing with when you are not around! Think - do I want to clean this off my dd's (or indeed your own!) bed and carpet on Xmas morning? If the answer is no then don't even think about putting it in the stocking!

The list of presents sounds great - maybe leave it until closer to the day to see if there is something new she is into closer to the time. Watch the christmas bargain threads for some great ideas and bargains too - the prequel one is already going strong but they usually start in earnest August/September time.

Stockings I always put a comic in (if there's a winter special for their favourite comic even better). Satsuma in the toe have been replaced by a chocolate orange (out of the box) after a particularly memorable incident one April when I discovered a festering stocking satsuma lurking in the depths of ds1's bedroom!

A bag of choc choins, pants/socks/vest/tshirt to be worn on the day to save faffing around finding them in the morning.

A Christmassy DVD that can be used to entertain while you get Xmas lunch ready or want a bit of respite. Can highly recommend Tom and Jerry's A Nutcracker Tale - typical madcap T&J set to the ballet music so quite nice music in the background for you, very little dialogue, easy to follow or dip in and out of. Usually about £3 in Amazon but can be cheaper, especially if you get it in a set. My dc are now 12 & 9 and will still put it on at Christmas!

The dc have always had a soft toy that has been peeking out of the top of the stocking, unwrapped. For the last few years ds2 has been incredibly fond of the plush toys made by Kinder Eggs that come with some kinder chocolates - Morrisons usually have them for about £4 (or up to £7 elsewhere), usually about 4 to choose from and it has become another tradition he loves.

If you are not super organised at wrapping early, I have started to cheat with stocking presents and bought some of the paper sweetie bags from eBay. If you buy in good time you can get the extra cheap ones from China etc. I have some smaller green stripe ones and bigger red stripe ones. Then to wrap just pop each thing into a bag and you can twist/scrunch shut - occasionally you need a small piece of sellotape or if it is something bigger then use a bag on each end and sellotape the two together - but has saved me hours of wrapping time! And because it's costs almost the same to buy 200 bags as it does for 30 I bought the bigger quantity and font have to worry about buying them again for another few years!

Ooo some good ideas thanks. I do the new teddy for xmas eve for her to cuddle and an xmas eve DVD and book.

I don't give her sweets (Strict mum).

She already has bath crayons, Wooden kitchen, play food, Leapfrog till etc

I've got her the new baby Annabell and Baby Born Smart Potty for her birthday in 2 weeks so an outfit is a good idea thanks.

Already thought to get her a Play Doh set.

What are people's thoughts on the LeapTV?

I'm hmming and harrring as I don't want her to have too much telly time but it does look cool and Winter is coming. Really in 2 minds.

Do you have build a bear near you? Little clothes from there would be great. You could even give her the bear on Xmas eve and clothes in sticking.

We bought my son a leap pad, and he just wouldn't use it.
We then got a kids Amazon fire kindle, lots of child friendly apps, he used that loads. In fact it taught him the alphabet! I would recommend that x

KatieeeB · 20/07/2017 12:29

She has an Innotab Baby and a Sofia laptop which is good for alphabet. It was the LeapTV I was wondering about as it's an introduction to gaming and does learning but I'm just concerned about too much time on the TV. :/.

Ours always have a bag of choc coins and a tube of sweets. Another essential is a magic flannel depicting their current favourite character, lots of shops sell these or ebay is good if they have a more awkward preference as mine did last year.

Trudee · 01/08/2017 18:56

Popped into Aldi today and they had packs of 2 Emoji magic flannels for £2.49. Not particularly bargainous but great for slightly older dc's like mine. I picked them up to add to the other stocking bits I picked up in the Hawkins Bazaar sale yesterday, they had bits like fossilised dinosaur poo for 49p which my ds's will love 😂

Do you have a Flying Tiger shop? They have loads of wee bits for stockings, especially nearer the time

My stockings follow the same formula each year:

Chocolate coins
Sweetie tube
Orange
Apple
Socks
Pants (or vests if not yet potty trained)
3 blindbags/ small toys/ hair and jewellery bits etc depending on child
Soft toy poking out the top

this year I'm thinking about adding a magazine for each as well. I know some people are a bit Hmm at pants and socks but they've never complained and Santa brings them fancy disneystore ones unlike mummy who only shops at primark
