Hrmph. Normality kicking in and it feels as if Christmas was a dream

DCs not quite back at school yet, decs are still up, and I'm still munching my way through the Christmas cake. And yesterday I was all for keeping some Christmas cheer going in the coming weeks. But I've just put all the boring normal routines on the calendar, cleaned out the fridge and opened my work email for the first time in a week. And, possibly because I was up half the night with a hacking cough (thank you, DP) I'm wandering around this morning feeling as if I dreamt the whole of Christmas, or that I wasn't really there. I disappeared into my own little Christmas bubble which has now burst.

Is it just me? I'm tired, cold-ridden, not in the mood for work, and feeling the January slump after a week (actually a month probably) of Christmas activity. But it really does feel as is I imagined the whole thing. But my jeans are a bit tight, so it must have happened I suppose

I'm actually really looking forward to everything going back to normal! DS's lovely routine has been shot the last few weeks and he's been sleeping terribly, my skin is awful fromvtoo much wine and chocolate and the house is a mess!

Although I am a sahm though, if I was working I would certainly feel the same as you and would be clinging onto the Christmas holidays with all my might!

I just took my tree down the living room looks so sad.

I'm going to buy some flowers and give it a really good clean which will help. Dd2's first birthday is at the weekend so I'm looking forward to the celebrations and cake

Laundryqueen you could get thrown off the Christmas board for saying that kind of thing! But probably I'll feel the same at the end of the week. It will be nice to have the house 'back' and I'm sure we'll enjoy ourselves as a family in other ways this month
allthebabies yes to flowers. I posted on the 12th night thread - we eat a nice meal, but also buy a new candle (put Christmas ones away) and I'd like to keep flowers in the house to brighten it up a bit.
lilac same here - very short half term which will be nice. I can restart the new year resolution to be more efficient about getting out to school in the morning next month if needs be......

I love Christmas but this year, our Landlord told us she was selling 4 weeks before! So my whole Christmas was tainted by that...and having to look for somewhere else to live!

Luckily I found a place just before Christmas...went to see it on the 21st, applied the same day and had notification that it was ours on the 29th...but the whole of Christmas was me in a fever of "will we get it or not!?" because where we live is very, very popular and any rental that comes up, is crowded with applicants.

I'm in Oz and they have Open Houses so you even have to say hello to your bloody competitors!

I took the tree down earlier than usual because I wanted to start packing!

I'm gutted. It definitely feels like Christmas is over here. I took everything down yesterday as it was dps last day off and I needed help getting the trees out. I cleaned everywhere and put spring flowers everywhere but I'm still gutted.
The kids are back at school to tomorrow and I'm dreading it. We all need to be out of the house by 8 it's going to be such a shock to the system as no one has been up before 9 recently.

My DH has taken down the decorations (and I told him to dispose of our horrible tree so I'll need to source a new one .... )

I'm at DParents (no Christmas decs here though, ) so when I get home, my house will be Nudey.

It did feel just a bit "Sunday-ish" , even when I went back to work last Wed, most of the decorations were gone .

Our local shopping centre though doesn't get them cleared until about March end Jan.

And I saw Creme Eggs in the motorway service station....... Aaaaargh

I LOVE Christmas, but I love getting the house back to normal. I'm going to hygge it up a bit though with new cushions and snuggly throws and more candles so while it will look bare without the decorations, it will still feel cosy and a bit festive.

I've cleared out the fridge today and it looks decidedly empty will just have to eat chocolate and all the "Christmas Food" that was left over has either been binned or stashed in the cupboard under the stairs ready for easter/the next party/a chocolate emergency.

DH is in the middle of stripping the tree, so far he hasn't complained or got bored but any minute now he will be yelling for assistance!

Still feels like Christmas here! More so even than when DD was little - she's at uni now so doesn't go back for a week or two, whereas when she was at school she'd be back by now.

The decorations are still up but will come down tomorrow - although the house will remain festooned with fairy lights until the evenings get lighter. We have a few strings up all year round.

This week we've had a few festive outings - decorations and lights were still up today out and about - and we have our Twelfth Night party on Saturday (we always have it on the Saturday closest to TN). Then on Sunday the last big meal of the festive period. The magic still lingers throughout January - lots of candles, using the lovely toiletries I was bought for Christmas, eating mince pies and chocolates, drinking port and Baileys (I make sure we buy enough to see us through ). Then, at the very end of January, DH and I have a night away. So, January always feels 'different' and festive.

And as soon as it's February, I start planning Easter...

all des still up here and will be for a while as I am still LOVING them, and every time I look at our tree my heart sings, It really was a beauty this year [festive sigh]

But I am also looking forward to routine clearing out cupboards etc.

All over here now. Tree and decs came down last night, and actually after a good vacuum, dust, and wipe of the windows the place does look a lot cleaner now. I might be ready to move on although the fact that I here on this part of the board suggests otherwise. Oh well, I still have Christmas cake, hot chocolate, bubble bath and some new candles to enjoy, and a nice family meal tonight (sort of 12th night but a day late. Epiphany then)

I have a day of today and have watched Harry Potter and I've just started The Sant Claus and I may me having chocolate and nuts. In my defense I wasn't at home for Christmas Day so feel that I need a Christmas Day.

I have just finished packing everything away .... apart from 400 warm white fairy lights which are staying up around my dining room to brighten the house until spring.

I know Mrs! I love Christmas and am always slightly sad to see it go, but it is nice to look forward. I bought myself some flowers yesterday to cheer up the place.

Our Christmas was flat as a pancake, so I'm putting the tree and decs away today (started yesterday) with sadness that it wasn't a very festive time.

Come Easter and I'm sure to find something random that I forgot to put away - last year the mistletoe was still above the kitchen door!
