Christmas

What did your DC's open first?

So DS was up at 5am begging to open presents. After making him eat breakfast first we agreed 6am. All the presents are open. He got nearly everything he asked for -some action figures, the hot wheels garage (his main present) and a baby doll.

He was very sure he wanted a doll and so we were happy to get it for him. DS is an only child. If he had a sister he would play with her dolls, so I'm happy even though I know some would be uncomfortable buying a doll for a boy.

Well, guess which toy he played with first? Once every present was open, he asked for the doll to come out of the box. Our new addition to the family is called Nigel.

So what did your DC's play with first? and were you surprised?

I cannot believe my boy is not awake yet. I want to see his face when he gets his surprise PS4. He thinks he's getting it on his birthday in March Xmas Grin

DS fell asleep last night at 6.45pm. He usually goes at 8.30, is 5, and has NEVER slept 14hrs straight before. Typical.

We only gave our ds his main present which was his Imaginext power rangers megazord and figures. He'll open some presents at his nan's later and the bulk tomorrow. Even if he did open all his presents I still think he would go for the power rangers first, he has been after it for months!

Love baby Nigel! DS loves his baby and asked for a dolls house this year which he loves too.

And I've never understood the dolls just being for girls thing. Looking after babies is done by both parents, so why shouldn't all children play at doing that?

He's already been eyeing up a mega sized dolls house in Smyths. Think we will need to build our extension first. Xmas Grin

No presents opened here yet but they've enjoyed their stockings - youngest DD loved a man with a parachute that you throw over the stairs!
We usually wait to open presents until everyone has had breakfast and is dressed and the meat is in - so will probably be 10am ish.
I can't quite get over those who let their kids rip into their presents in a frenzy when it's still dark. Delayed gratification and waiting is a good skill to learn - then we all enjoy opening our presents all together and can share the joy of seeing what each other has got. Works for us anyway!
I'm thinking their favourites will be;
DD1 - hair crimpers
DD2 - fountain pen
DD3 - remote controlled car
Merry Christmas!

Children woke at 5AM and opened their stockings, leaving us to sleep. Still playing with stocking stuff haven't even asked for main present. Had some family presents last night too, as that's how it's done in Germany.
Overall it appears to be a successful Christmas with very happy (and quiet!!!) kids.

That's nice they let you sleep. How old are they? Looking forward to when DS is old enough to do that. He came in to our room at 5am, opened his stocking and we had breakfast in bed. His stocking had coco pops in (with other stuff!) and he was really excited. He's never had them before but it's Christmas after all, so coco pops for breakfast isn't too bad!

I'm disabled and need to take medication before moving so it's really important for us that I get the time to do that first. DS is very understanding but was bouncing off the walls with excitement! It's just us 3 so no point in waiting for opening presents, no-one to wait for. We will be off to MIL for lunch and more presents. The toy he says he wants more than anything is over there. He keeps asking about it still, so think he might actually explode when he gets it. I think that's enough deference for a 5 yr old!

Oh dear Tomorrow- I hope the rest of the congregation didn't mind!

We've all had fun looking after Nigel today, who may become Nigella, as DS has 'inspected' and found no willy. DH was a bit sad, as we'd dearly love another, but it was great to see how kind and caring DS is. Xmas Smile Merry Christmas everyone!
