Hi all,

I've bought my 11 month old a few bits to open on the day. I really didn't think it was worth buying a great deal as he didn't understand, plus it's his birthday in early January.

But... Over the past few weeks he has really stated developing, he can suddenly walk and has worked out how to put the balls through the holes on his walker and the balls on the ball run so they drop down. He has also had great fun making very simple marks on a chalk table the he can finally reach. He is very pleased with himself and finds these things very funny! He now loves being on his feet and exploring this way. So, I would like to make the most of this new found exploration. Any ideas? I have an Argos, mothercare, smiths and asda that I can get to easily. Plus Amazon prime!

Suggestions great fully received.

Hello, not sure how much you're looking to spend but we bought this for our 1 year old's birthday at the end of October - www.argos.co.uk/product/9087550. She loves it! In fact we struggle to get our 4 year old out of it too. :)

My one year old loves Beat Bo. Great if they love music and dance. Keeps them active dancing along and following instructions.

DS is a January baby, he's nearly 3 now but when he was 11 months old we bought him the ELC wooden kitchen walker which he played with every day until we bought him a bigger kitchen last Christmas.

We also bought him these alphabet blocks which are still a favourite and beautifully made:

My DS also had the early learning centre kitchen walker that Nigella mentions. It was great, lasted well until we have it away this year. I believe they also do a workbench version. It has lots of little activities on it too so not just a walker.

Great ideas thank you. Love the look of the kitchen walker, not in stock near me unfortunately. Also, the garden thing looks amazing and is in stock at Argos! Think we may have a last minute trip!

11 months is really too young to panic Christmas buy. Just wait till the sales and get something nice and practical then.

Elf lights and sounds activity table is fantastic. The wow toys are good too

You make a very good point, sleep free zone! I'm worrying he won't have enough/the things I've got are not good enough, which is ridiculous when you think about it rationally!
