Has anyone else experienced this with their child's school?

My younger son (13) came home yesterday and told me that the new, temporary HT sent an e-mail round all the teachers, ordering them not to allow the kids to bring in Xmas films, games or books for the last couple of days of term!
Instead, the teachers have been instructed to continue with normal classwork until tomorrow (Wed) which is their last day of term.

Apparently, the teachers generally were annoyed and surprised and two of the teachers my son has, commented to the kids that they didn't agree and are allowing the kids to watch some of "The Polar Express."

I could understand it to an extent if they were behind with their work or really needed to finish something, but it is a great school and the vast majority of the pupils, are polite, hard-working kids.

I'm just curious if other schools are operating the same policy at this time of year?

The previous HT was very popular and approachable, but unfortunately has decided to retire. The new, temp replacement is said to be somewhat of a control freak and is getting the reputation amongst parents, for having a rather aggressive attitude.

Just hope he doesn't get the job permanently - Bah Humbug!

Dd broke upon Friday, she watched three different dvds on the Friday, on the Thursday lessons were "fun" so quizzes, games, poster making. Tbh dd would rather work up until the end because having to be in school but watching dvds for her is a pain when she could be at home.
