DH forgot to get DD's present & now it's sold out

We have an arrangement. DH gets the "big" presents (one from us, one from Santa), I do the "little" ones - stockings, colouring books, usually a new board game. It has worked very well as a way of dividing the labour ... until now.

He did the big shop a couple of weeks ago and got DD1's present from us (Lego), but today I discover he totally forgot to get the Santa present (a Kinect adaptor for her Xbox). It is sold out everywhere (I'm in Ireland, so delivery from the UK would take too long).

So now I'm utterly stumped. I'm the only one who will get to shops without DC between now and Christmas and I have no earthly idea what to get her. partly because she doesn't really need anything, but that's a whole other issue

So, what would you get for a sporty 9yo girl who loves Star Wars, Harry Potter, her Xbox, fashion and dressing up? My brain is fried and I can't think of anything. The Kinect would have been perfect, as DH was supposed to get a dance game with it.

Ask on facebook/ Freecycle.

Lots of people have kinnects they don't need as they upgraded to XBox 1 where it's built in.

I know it's old tech but you could pick up a used wii and dance game quite cheap.

Oh squeezed you might be on to something. We have a Wii (only games console I ever had an interest in) that's mainly gathering dust except when my DPs come for dinner and challenge us to a game of bowling.

I wonder whether Santa could get a dance game for that and leave an IOU for the Kinect (along the lines of "when you've figured out dancing on the Wii, take this voucher to the games shop and get yourself a Kinect and the Xbox dance game...)

Is it this. If so lots of the Irish CEX stores have it second hand.

Have you ever seen the film Jingle All The Way? Xmas Grin That's what your thread title put me in mind of.

Have you tried asking on your local FB selling page, to see if anyone has one they want to sell? Often people will have things in barely used condition just gathering dust in their home.

Looks like Game are doing a 5 day service to Ireland (assuming southern ireland) - you might manage it in time!

If not would agree a dance game for the Wii would be good.

Has she got any of the Xbox Lego games? The Harry Potter ones are really good.

Apple, you have just saved Christmas Xmas Grin

That wasn't it, but I searched on the site and lo and behold, there they were. Even better, I'm likely to be passing two of the shops on Monday morning and DH may be passing one on Monday afternoon.

I'd been googling endlessly all day for options so I have no idea how they didn't show up. I'll be keeping a close eye on the stock levels between now and Monday, but it looks like we could be all sorted! Grin

You will all be glad to know that, (possibly disappointing SantaslittleMonkey) there was no Arnold-Schwarzenegger-style Jingle all the Way chaos, and the Kinect has been bought Grin

Thanks all!
