Just that really. We're moving to a different country in the new year and wondered if anyone has any experience of it working or not outside of the uk as i read something somewhere saying it doesn't....

They look pretty good though still not sure I can get my head round giving a tablet to small children (mine are 5 and 2.5 and there's no way I could get one without the other!)

I have a Kindle Fire for my 3 and 5 year old, bought especially for the plane journey on summer hols last year and worked, mostly. They are nightmare travellers generally and disbehave on journeys.

Some of the things we downloaded beforehand worked, some didnt. Also we couldnt connect them to local WIFI and you cannot download anything if abroad, it only seems to work in the UK. So for that reason maybe look at something else.

They are super little tablets though, I would never hesitate having for my children, there are a lot of educational things we downloaded on there too, they were using our ipad from age 2 if not before and have no issue with that. It's a different techie world out there now and this is all part of it. Plus they get bored with them (really) after a long while albeit, you will see they wont always want to play with them if they are casually left around the house every so often.

Perhaps you will need to look for an alternative that works abroad, sorry, I have rambled and probably not the answer you were looking for. But didn't work abroad for us.

Just trying to get some more views on this.. I would like to buy one for a child who lives in the middle east.

Will she be able to download books? Games I'm less worried about - or should I just buy her a standard kindle? Does that work overseas?

I am in rural Sweden - a flight north from Stockholm and we all have kindles. Kids are 9 and are on the kids settings, we download them all the free games, books etc. Seems to work just as in UK.

Just to add amazon has no base in Sweden and do not ship here but had them sent to my mums and sent she sent them over.
