How do you decorate your house?

Inside? Or do you just have a tree?

I usually put other lights up around the bookcases and some tinsel on the bannister but looking for more ideas. Post pictures too!

I am trying to cut down this year. We are going away for two weeks on 4 December, so not much time to do the usual industrial scale decorating. The articial tree in the dining room went up yesterday, DS2 is in charge of getting a real one for us for the sittng room while we are away along with his own. DH expressed amazement when I said I might not even do the fireplace swags this year, so I will probably relent . These are previous year's versions, though they stay more or less the same each year. We have a large entrance hall so I put a large tree in there with gold and white decorations - on the window sill a latern with battery operated fairy lights an a old time Santa

In the main room, stag ornament on the windowsill and smaller tree with sage green, tartan and stag design ornaments. I use large Christmas gingham bunting in both the hall and main room.

Then I but lots of battery operated fairy lights on windowsills.

I also have a large garland with lights on the fireplace.

I'm so jealous of your lovely fireplaces! I have a hole in the wall with shelves :( maybe that's why I'm unsure how to decorate.

Outside we have warm white lights across the porch and fence, and 2 pre lit holly balls that I hang up.
In the front bay window I usually have a miniature twiggy tree with tiny baubles and lights on and I use mini houses and create a snow scene but this year I've actually bought some Christmas village for there instead. So excited about that!

We have a huge tree in the living room decorated with mostly red but I don't have a theme as such, we always just buy a couple of really big and beautiful decorations for it every year. The tree skirt is Scandinavian looking and I put out a stuffed (with wadding not presents!) Santa sack. The fireplace is decorated with a berry garland and lights. I have a few pictures that I hang up and some Cushions for the chairs.

There's a smaller tree in the dining room but that's decorated in a similar way. The advent candle is usually on the fireplace in there and I decorate the table with table cloth and centrepiece.

Always buy a tiny real tree in a pot for the kitchen and I have tea towels and cups that make an appearance too.

We all get Christmas bedding as well but that comes out middle December time.

Leopard, fireplaces are all very well, but they do make a lot of work, mainly for DH, as we have a fire virtually every evening in the sitting room. He is starting to mutter about having a gas/coal or gas/log fitted, like the one in the pcture of the snug. They are very convenient and fairly convincing, but I don't think they throw out enough heat for a large room.

It's a traveling year so the fake tree.

We put out a lot of candles on the mantelpiece.

Christmas towels in the kitchen.

Christmas duvet set on DDs bed, and a couple of snow globes in her room.

Crib in the sitting room, and a small one in the hall.

Christmas fleece on the couch fulor curling up under.

Christmas crockery comes out- a few mugs, a plastic plate, and a few glasses and serving dishes, mixed in with our regular stuff.

A very naff paper chain on the hall ceiling.

It's a real mix of styles that has evolved over time that we love.

Thanks, Maudlin, that's nice of you. Actually I think the swags look better in real life, the lights in the photo are very dazzling so the ribbon and gold bells in the sitting room one don't show up.
Hint for anyone fancying doing a swag: get those "s" shaped butchers' hooks and put one each end of the mantle piece and hook the wire of the swag onto them. Top half of the S on the mantle, other half underneath with the wire pulled tight.
