XboxOne or Playstation4?

Thinking about getting DSs (8 & 6) the XboxOne for Christmas. Did a bit of research though and it seems PS4 gets slightly better reviews. Want something fairly user friendly but they're both expensive so want to get the right one. Think they will like/love the Fifa and Minecraft games. Any user experiences recommendations for either?

Well I'm biased because I've only ever done xbox. Personally I would go with the backwards compatibility list for both. Xbox have a load of 360 games that can be played on the one so therefore more choice for littlies. I have no idea about playstation though.

Ps4 all the way. I am a recent convert to ps4 have had Xbox for years and I was just getting sick of the time it took to update the damn thinget. Playstation has a much simpler layout, the controllers are more comfortable they often get games released before Xbox their online is much quicker (Xbox have just signed a deal with Sony where they use Sony servers as there's were shit) time to install games and update them is much quicker. I can't think of any more positives over the Xbox at the moment but there is loads.

There are loads of games for little kids and games for little kids till need updating via the Internet.

DS who has a 360 said there is no way he wanted an upgrade to the Xbox one. He said the PS4 is by far the better console. He is 14.

Fiancée has an Xbox and PS4 but only ever plays on the PS4, I think it's a lot better than Xbox

It depends what they want to play on it. DS13 is only interested in FIFA and according to him it's rubbish on the PS4, only the XBoxOne has blahblahblah [lost will to live] on it for FIFA 17

Husband has the xboxone and says it's perfect for FIFA, although of course he doesn't have a PS4 to compare it to. Worth checking the cost of accessories too, as the Xbox one came with one controller and another one is about £40! Then £2 for the charger and £40-70 a game it's a ridiculous cash cow.

Was a PlayStation gal from the very first console. Only switched with Xbox 360 came out as it is (was) the bollox. Son begged for a PS4 last year and I absolutely cannot fault it, smashes Xbox out of the water. My ex had Xbox one ... not worth it. PS4 all the way

I just bought DS a One S with extra controller and FIFA 17 for £229.

Honestly most people are one camp or the other...

As a fan of both, I'd lean more towards PlayStation

Get whichever one their friends have.

They can then chat/play together...Minecraft as a social event - who knew!

We've just bought a PS4 (no kids...for DH!) £199 from GAME with two free games.

It was very simple to set up, seems very slick, controller is good.

Most people recommended the PS4 to us over the Xbox.

I agree with theknackster about going with what their friends have if they will be playing online.

We have an ancient PS3 that belonged to OH that has been taken over by DS1(8). If it was down to us to choose an upgrade we'd probably go for the PS4. But all DS' friends have or are getting xbox one consoles, and he wants the same as them, so that's what we've gone for.

We've got both (the PS4 for gaming, the Xbox One as a 4K player) and I'd say the PS4 is definitely the more user friendly out of the two. If it wasn't for the fact it's half the price of a proper 4K player the Xbox would have gone straight back, it's a complete pain in the arse.

I think it's personal choice although if there anything like my partner who will compare all the specs before buying. The PS4 at the moment has the higher specs.
We have a 4K tv and graphics are really good on it although he now wants the PS4 pro because of the tv.
He also says they no point getting the Xbox yet as they's rumours of a new one next year that's meant to be better then the PS4.

trionic what's a 4K player? We have a 4K TV, would the Xbox one have been better choice overs the PS4 for compatibility

Thanks all, this is amazingly helpful! Without being dense, does anyone know what I need to buy with the PS4? We are starting from scratch. Keep hearing talk of an upgrade plus controls and of course games.

Definitely the ps4 otherwise there no Naughty Dog games and they're the best!

I wpuld personally go into game and ask them as they are really helpful and usually not too pushy with add ons you don't need.

Just posted this on another thread but steer clear of ps4 pro. Alot of issues with it at the moment. Dh just bought one despite game warning him of the issues. The graphics on it don't work on all tv apparently until Sony sort it out in another month.

We have lg tv and it's working ok apparently but dh says that graphics aren't up to 100% what they should be. Dh says he's waiting on lg bringing out an update to cope with the graphics which is supposedly end of November, game did warn us lol
