We will be

Chocolate and champagne early am

Bacon rolls and coffee

A fish starter. May be prawns or salmon or lobster.
Turkey and all the trimmings - DS request. I'd really prefer steak and chips
No dessert but cheese, biscuits, chutney and port all evening.

Smoked salmon bagels

Fillet beef and roast turkey with all the usual suspects and Yorkshire puddings

I'm not a massive pudding eater but will probably do a Christmas pudding

A shit ton of cheese and crackers and red wine.

Nibbles (antipasti, olives etc) at about 11 with more fizz - instead of a starter.

Turkey and lamb plus all the trimmings. Christmas pud and tiramisu at 1-ish.

Turkey sarnies and cheese in the evening.

Normallly we have champagne when opening pressies, but now seriously considering bacon butties, but to be honest I think smoked salman and scrambled egg, croissants, is more of an occasion, which is standard for us.but bacon butties yummy,

Then it's traditional,,,maybe anti pasti to start,,,turkey and all the trimmings for main Then a break and Xmas pudding,,,

We usually have a bit of a cooked breakfast buffet at my mums early after the kids have opened their presents and then everyone (parents, grandparents and siblings) come to us for Christmas dinner...Turkey, beef and all the trimmings. My sister is in charge of bringing puddings, she usually brings enough to feed the street!!

Drop scones for breakfast (we call these 'pancakes' where I come from)

Smoked salmon on bread while milling about before lunch plus another starter for someone who likes salmon but not on bread (Hmm)

Roast Beef

Christmas Pudding
The other pudding the guests bring with them

That's as far as the plan goes....

Following as this is a hot topic in our house at the moment especially as I'm dairy and soya free!

yes making the Wellington. Never done it before. So it can go one of two ways. It'll either be a success or will fall to pieces but we'll still have a lush bit of beef to eat.

Dh is cooking. We are hosting for 6.

Croissants and sloe gin fizz for breakfast

Turkey, gammon and all the trimmings
Only my dad and dp ever manage pudding but I'll probably still do at least two choices so we can have leftovers.

Nibbles in the afternoon/evening

We used to always have a prawn cocktail for starters but no one can manage it anymore. So I do a big one with for Boxing day lunch instead.

Blueberry pancakes for breakfast (DS's regular Sunday breakdast but his favourite food in the world)

Proper massive prawn cocktail for starters, eaten early so there is a gap before the roast.

Roast turkey, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, chanteney carrots, Savoy cabbage with bacon and chestnuts, stuffing, pigs in blankets, gravy

A suitable interval, then sticky toffee pudding and clotted cream (not fans of Xmas pudding here).

No evening meal, just picking at leftovers and chocs.

I am actually more excited about having the mother of all fish pies on Xmas eve!

Chocolate in bed while opening stockings, croissants & fizz for breakfast. We go to our local pub late morning for drinks then home for nibbles (smoked salmon blinis plus twiglets & cheesy footballs Grin).
lunch is usually 2/2:30 and will be turkey & beef + roast potatoes, carrots & parsnips, red cabbage, possibly peas, pigs in blankets, stuffing, bread sauce, Yorkshire puddings & gravy followed by Christmas pud with brandy butter (the reason I have Christmas pud), mincepie & tinned peaches.

Usual munching of chocolates, nuts etc throughout the day and then a late (9ish) buffet of cold meats inc a ham, cheese & biscuits, chutneys, bread, grapes with a Delia trifle for pudding. We literally have to roll up to bed we eat so much ShockConfusedBlush

Pancakes, bacon, maple syrup and creme fraiche for breakfast.

Smoked salmon
Goose with red cabbage and the usual roast veg
Christmas pud for DH
Trifle for me
Both for the DCs

There will be the usual chocolates hanging about, and if they want to eat in the evening they have to forage in the kitchen.

Can't get my head around this fizzy wine for breakfast thing. ExH's family used to do it, and I was never going to fit in because I used to ask for the buck without the fizz please.

Fizz and pastries for breakfast

We are having lunch out this year, menu looks fairly traditional.

Cheese, Christmas ham and nibbles in the evening.

Report
winterisnigh · 26/11/2016 12:43

loving reading all these menus Smile

not got into an xmas morning groove yet, love the idea of cinnamon rolls though, probably a light lunch - we eat later on when its dark or twilight.

Usually smoke salmon starter - strayed off last year and it was DISASTER. My fav part of the meal is that first glass of champagne and mouthful of smoked salmon. Followed by goose or duck, the duck last year was outstanding....it really was.

So perhaps duck again.
