Christmas

Am I likely to find a kindle paper white deal/discount?

Or are they one of those products that are always the same price? I'd like to get one for Christmas, probably from Dh but can't quite justify the price.

Black Friday they'll usually have a deal.

Its "black friday" at the moment and the paperwhite is £104, however they are worth every penny. I love mine.

Ok so let's agree that if anyone sees a deal we'll post it here. I thought Black Friday was next week.

I got mine in black Friday last year, from currys. I got it with a good quality case. IIRC it was about £20 off the kindle paperwhite, so in reality got the case for free.

It got got 30 pounds off on amazon today. Not sure how long that offer will last but can't see it being reduced further on Friday.

The current price is the cheapest I've ever seen for a brand new one and I'd snap it up at that price - They are hardly ever discounted by more than £10/20 but are worth every penny at any price.

Currently debating whether to get DP one for Christmas - he has a very old basic kindle which he loves and I'm sure he's mentioned that he'd quite like a paperwhite like mine. I would kick myself if his broke soon and had to be replaced at the full price shortly after such a good offer.

But like everything else these days, Black Friday has gone from nothing to a week long event that vastly exceeds the original purpose of the day, which should of course be just Friday only.

Have just bought one for DS - I'm pleased with the price.

Amazon only allow 3rd parties to have a sale when it suits them so if imagine theyll be the only ones with money off device on black Friday. Others might have a free case deal or something.

Black Friday is this friday

I think they're on Argos for £80 in their Black Friday sale.

It is already on offer on Amazon for £79.99, think Argos etc are matching.

Argos do topcashback don't they? Wish I'd thought of that now!

Brilliant, I've snapped one up today from Amazon at £79.99 tbh I didn't think I'd get one at that price anywhere. They were still at £109 yesterday.

I'm really hoping for a deal on the Kindle voyage which I've been coveting for months. Guess they might not discount now though, as I thought they'd do it at the same time as the Paperwhite...just want to be able to press to turn the page, not flick!

littlequestion with the Paperwhite you just tap the screen to turn the page, you don't need to swipe?

I'm over the moon as amazon had given me 20% off any kindle after my 4 years old kindle fire died, so I've bought it for £63.99 as an early Christmas present for me Smile

I got mine on a Tesco Black Friday deal 2 years ago.

Really, Sue? Ooh that might change things.....

Page turning on paperwhites is indeed tapping, question.

Get one, you know you want to and the current deal is probably unbeatable.

littlequestion · 24/11/2016 22:51

But with my ancient kindle I just kind of squeeze the button at the side with my thumb..I am worried that tapping might annoy a sleeping DH... (he's the excuse I need a new, backlit Kindle as he goes to sleep earlier than me). I have been wondering if the voyage is worth the extra ££ though

The same thing has been preventing me getting a Paperwhite littlequestion, but I tried one on a stand in a shop and actually I came to the conclusion I'd get used to it and maybe it's not a big deal. I really want a light and my keyboard keeps getting a black bar across it Confused

I was holding out for a Voyage, but some reviews for that said they found the page press annoying and they often turned more than they wanted etc, whereas those for the PW were pretty universally positive.

I've given in and I'm going for this deal. I mean, I think my dh is going to surprise with me with it for Christmas Grin

The voyage does seem a lot of money when you consider you have to buy the books to read on it - you can buy a lot for seventy odd quid or whatever the difference is...

They turn pages, not with a tap but with a mere light touch. Love my paper white, had it two years now.
