Looking for ideas for 9 year old dss, he will be spending Christmas Day with us (first time) and I want him to have a few good presents to open, nothing too big due to lack of space. What are your 9-10 year olds getting? I have bought him a couple Lego sets and some Lego books from book people, he likes to read but I'm not sure what books he already has, likes Star Wars and Lego ninjago (but has quite a few sets).

Is he sporty? My 9yo is getting a phlat ball, a nerf howler, a kick trainer and goalie gloves. David Walliams books go down well with this age group, as do Mr Gum, Tom Gates, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. An annual is always good. We got him Pieface too! And top trumps.

Do you have a Wi? 9YO is about right for Skylanders I think.

DS2 has just gobbled up the Percy Jackson series (he's nearly 10)

Would he like audio books to listen to in bed or in the car? Book People have a David Williams audio book collection. Mine (nearly 12 and nearly 10) have both loved the Artemis Fowl series (and DH and I don't mind listening to them either)

Nurf is a no no ( my dog is petrified of them, I can imagine her being traumatised on Christmas Day ) Grin.

I was thinking Percy Jackson but my daughter has all the books and would happily lend/give them to him.

Audio books might be a good idea.

I will have a look at magformers ( sounds interesting ).

He's not very sporty but does like riding his bike and being outdoors.

A nerf howler isn't a gun, it's a type of ball. Dog might not mind that?

Geomags are really cool too.

I will look at the nurf howler. I know he would love a nurf gun but I would feel a bit mean if he couldn't play with it on the day, though if the weathers ok he could play with it outside. I'm going shopping today so will have a look.

You need quite a large space for the Nerf Howler. It goes a very long way when you chuck it.

You either need a very large garden or you play with it in a park. DS2 loves his. They're only about £6 though so it's hardly a main present.

I'm struggling for ideas for ds, aged 8.5 too. His sisters are easy to buy for, I've got a good list of stocking filler things for them, but ds, I'm stumped once I get past chocolate coins, an orange and a chocolate snowman. I've taken a few ideas from this thread though, so thank you.
