does anybody buy hampers as gifts, and if so where from? why recommended sites? I'm thinking of cake and tea type ones for my grandma but would be interested in any! or does anybody make their own? does it end up cheaper? thanks x

I have bought a couple in the past from Fortnum & Mason. They were lovely, but pricey.

Our local garden centre do nice ones where you buy the hamper (various sizes), choose what you want to put in it and they make it look all fancy!

I have bought a tea hamper this year from Whittards. I know they do tea and coffee ones, but not sure if any came with cake.

I do my own - so much cheaper and can be personalised to the recipient's tastes. I used to do one for all 3 sets of grandparents and just grab naice bits from aldi during my regular shops from September onwards. No grandad to do it for this year, sob

Mrs Bridges do hampers and they come in re-usable jute shopping bags which may be better long term than an actual basket.

Just bumping this to see if anyone has any other ideas, I might buy or make a hamper for the in-laws.

I have used justsoitalian.co.uk a few times, an Italian deli where you can make your own hamper up from a whole range of goodies. My recipients have been really impressed

Oh justsoitalian looks really good thanks. I was wanting to avoid alcohol really and they prefer savoury over sweet, so I might well order from there thank you!

We've bought them from Regency hampers for both sets of parents and they went down very well - like a lucky dip for grown ups!

I've actually just placed an order with them this week, for some very good friends who are into cooking and love Italian food, so this is perfect

I made some last year. Bought the baskets from B M bargains then filled them with nice bits I spotted that each would like and I made some jam to go in too. I bought the fancy wrap from BM bargains too, they looked really posh in the end!
