Christmas

What have your DC asked for, so far?

Wayfarersonbaby · 06/11/2016 22:32

I asked DD (3, nearly 4) the other day what she might like for Christmas. The answer:

  • an eraser
  • some more pieces for her wooden train set
  • a soft toy duck
  • some "different pens and crayons"
  • a bike

I can definitely get with the eraser and the train set pieces; but I've already bought a toy duck and some pens and crayons for her birthday....and MIL is getting her a bike for that! She claims she can't think of anything else. Any ideas for a main present that a nearly 4 y o would like? I already have some bits and pieces, but not one main present from Santa. She has an Ikea kitchen, playhouse, doll's house and a wooden train set already, and loads of Duplo.

Playmags? Would that be impressive enough as a main present? Anything else?

I need to find, "a giant squid, sort of squishy, with arms that I can pose."

Righto, Boy, that'll be easy to find.

He asks every day if I've found one yet!

Crookedy's idea is a good one - mine LOVED a camera at that age.

OvO I don't know how much you want to spend but Big Stuffed make the most amazing giant soft toys including a squid. I'm desperate to buy one for me DS but I know he won't be interested at the moment.

Wayfarer does your DD enjoy small world type play? There are some beautiful wooden play sets around- Tidlo do a fantastic hospital, Luna and Curious have a beautifully detailed old fashioned caravan and Janod do a lovely circus set amongst others.

My 3 nearly 4 year old is consistently asking for the lego volcano stuff.

Other than that it's whatever advert he happens to see on the TV at that moment. Hmm

How about playmobil for your DD? Or just browse through the argos 3 for 2 offers and see what jumps out!

Those are gorgeous, Nigella, thank you!

But he wants ones that can be posed and stay in that position. I've tried to tell him it doesn't exist but he thinks I just need to look harder. He's even questioned my googling skills. Xmas Shock

I want a whale from that link though! They look so cuddly, I need it for meeeee.

I'd go for a Playmobil or Imaginext playset. Imaginext is more robust and easier to set up but female figures are like hen's bloody teeth. If you aren't opposed to screen time something like a Leap TV has real wow factor and they are on sale in most places now (or you can get a bundle with an extra controller and lots of games on ebay.)

My DS will be 4 this week and he's asked for a Star Wars Echo Base set (like Imaginext), an Imaginext Superman robot and I've told him he can hang up a stocking for Santa to put small things in though he doesn't seem to be able to get his head around that. He's also getting extra Playskool Star Wars stuff and the set he's asked for is tiny, a Hot Wheels set and a Leap TV and games I got from an ebay bundle. His stocking will have some Rescue Bots and Paw Patrol figures. And I always get him some nice book sets from Santa.

OvO, past requests that I've attempted to fulfil have been "a baby doll that makes a crying noise, but has a monkey's face" and "a unicorn that comes in a handbag". The latter had apparently been spotted in a charity shop when we were on holiday 3 months previously and 100miles away.

This year's requests are much simpler. Big One wants Smuggle stuff, and Fantastic Beast for Lego Dimensions. Small One has just had a birthday, so doesn't want anything apart from a Lindt Chocolate Reindeer.

My four year old wants lots of batman stuff but a wee gem is the fisher price codeapillar. He saw it at a friends house and now is asking Santa for one. I got it with other stuff in the Argos 3 for 2

DS1 (nearly 5) wants blow pens. That's all he's asked for! His birthday is before Christmas, and we've got him a Hornby train set, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to what else to get him for either...

DS2 (just turned 3) wants crazy sand and a real live minion. 'He can come and live with us because then he can do the cleaning and you won't have to mummy because you're not very good at remembering' Blush

Dd2 is 5 and has asked for trolls toys and Shopkins.

Ds is 4 and has asked for a tab like dd1 has. I got him a lenovo one in offer in argos as his main present.

Howmany, what have you done?!?! That's what I need! But they don't deliver outside the US. . But now I know it exists! AND you've just proved my DS right - my googling skills sucks as I never saw that on my travels round the net! Curse you! Xmas WinkXmas Grin

My ds(3) is desperate for the Imaginext power rangers megazord. Every time you ask him what Santa should bring, it's the same answer.

OVO - they actually do exist, much to my amazement!! Shock

But it's BIG and out of stock on this US site... but I'm sure there'll be others out there!

My ds1, who is 6 in January has asked for the following (all because of the tv ads).

  • 3D pens (no chance, they're aimed at age 8+ and I've not heard good things about them)

  • 3D Pirate Playmobil set, or any really.

  • Shopkins...I am not starting on those!

My other son is almost 3 and asking for Playmobil and Lego.

I love how random some of these requests are!

OvO I really want a Big Stuffed animal for me too. DS is currently hugely disinterested in soft toys but I hoping I can plant the seed for next year.

DS1 4 nearly 5 by Christmas has requested Lego Arctic, Lego Volcano, a Playmobil campervan, another optimus prime, and Tidmouth Sheds!!

Needless to say he's not getting all of that. I already have a Lego Arctic set which I snapped up on eBay back in the summer, and DH will get him a Transformer I'm sure. Might do campervan for his birthday which isn't that long after Christmas.

And I'm reluctant to consider more Thomas stuff as surely he'll grow out of it soon.

DS2 (18 months) just wants a helicopter. Bless him. (Well he hasn't asked for one but he loves them and actually we don't have a nice age appropriate one he can play with.

DD got a playmobil castle at that age, most years she got add-ons like more figures or smaller sets for birthdays and Christmas. Also, easy add-on present ideas for family members.

If you go it, build it in advance. Ours took 2 evenings of at least 2 hours each to get it up (and lots of alcohol and chocolate).

Strangest request: a bucket of water. We got a maple tree planted by the council outside of our house one November, DD named her Mable and asked for water so she would survive.

keep the gifts small - next year they'll be raking up all kinds of lists. My boy didn't get it until he was nearly 5 and then he wasn't sure about the whole asking for stuff.
