Pokemon cards

I've posted this in chat but had no replies so I'm going to try you lovely people here

My 6 year old ds loves Pokemon and has asked for pokemon stuff for Christmas. I've seen the cards in shops but there seem to be lots of different packs and I've been trying to read up on how to play it but am just getting confused... Can anyone please tell me what I'd need to get for him to be able to play it at home with us? Can we play a game with just one pack? I am clueless...

Also has anyone ordered any of those packs of pokemon figures from Aliexpress? He's got two of the official ones, wasn't sure if these would fit with them?

I'm not in the UK so choice may be different or limited, this shop sells them here if anyone could take a look and tell me what I might need?

As far as I remember each pack can (and maybe should) be played separately (we only played 2 player games as dh wasn't interned) as it will have a good balance of Pokemon and their stages of evolution/special/power etc cards.

The game packs include instructions, counters etc.

Once you know what you are doing you can swap other pokemon in/out but you normally need a few a each of their evolved forms.

My dd has 1000's but has never actually played with them, she just collects them and tries to get the rarer ones .

Hi I ordered Pokemon mini figures a pack of 24 and there fine I also got a Pokemon ball that shoots out little balls looks good my son will love them. I also ordered a Pokemon jumper and Tshirt haven't got them yet. Ds granny ordered Pokemon cards in a lovely tin from aliexpress there really nice for what she paid for them!
