What are your Christmas food non-negotiables

Just a bit of fun really as I'm a greedy soul who loves reading about food (and eating it).

I've got a bit less tolerant of all the excessive food-porn tv chef Christmas wankery that seems to get worse every year but there are certain things that I do love at Christmas.

Good cheeses, cured meats, smoked salmon etc to have with oatcakes, onion/chilli jam and lots of red wine or port.

A Christmas sandwich - almost better than the roast itself. Turkey (although we often have chicken instead), stuffing, pigs in blankets, cranberry and bread sauce, all in good granary bread. Yum.

Gingerbread/lebkuchen.

Clementines by the bucketload.

Spiced rum in black coffee.

Christmas pudding- not fussed about cake.

What will you be making sure you get in?

I'd be happy with only roast potatoes but only if they're good ones made in goose fat.

The usual roast with trimmings- loads of veg, but as long as there is lots of variety it doesn't matter about any one thing. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, sprouts, leeks, cauli cheese, roast potato and parsnip are essential. Everything else is negotiable.

Oh gosh yes really good crispy roasties! Never tried goose fat ones, maybe this is the year.

You can keep your pickled onions though, bleurgh!

A big ol' Christmas ham.

Lots of yummy cheese, crackers, chutney, grapes and crisps.

My MIL's very boozy Caribbean black cake.

Trifle. Christmas has to involve trifle.

And lots of nice cheese.

Lots more pigs in blankets and stuff in balls than are required for the meal for snacking on the next day.

I'm not altogether sure we'll be having turkey, as we all much prefer a rib of beef, but the stuffing will be made regardless/

The best thing about Christmas is Yule log, I can't stand mince pies, Xmas cake or Xmas pudding, so I love some Yule log with a cup of tea on Christmas evening (usually while I'm watching Xmas day soaps).
And I always make a homemade trifle for Christmas Day. And wine, got to have plenty of wine for all them dinners over Xmas and new year.

A Lindt chocolate reindeer
Bacon wrapped sausages
