What are the best things you've bought? I'll get the Illustrated Chamber of Secrets to go with the Philosophers Stone that DD already has. She has a wand. I'm going to buy a cauldron from a witchcraft shop. She'd like Quidditch robes. Are they as bad quality as they look? Any other good buys?

Don't know about the robes, but the Marauders Map is quite good, and a friend once bought me a quill and ink set with a Slytherin scarf which I'd recommend.

I found on eBay a lovely gryffindor hoodie which my 9yr old dd loves. Was around £15, is maroon and has gold gryffindor quiddich team wording.

How old? I've just bought Ravenclaw pjs for 14 year old dd from undiz.
A few years ago, she got a Rita Skeeter quill pen and Hermione's wand (from HP world) both of which are still proudly displayed on her desk.
She also has a lovely, big, hardback Magic of Film book which has lots of goodies inside (-dark mark "tattoo", Marauders Map etc.)

M and co have children sized PJs (9+), and clothes which will fit my DD better than the smallest sized Primark stuff I bought the other week!

Aliexpress have jewellery, badges, wands etc which DD has loved.

This book is gorgeous, very detailed and full of wonderful pop ups.

Have also bought this for 6 year olds Christmas:

This was surprisingly good quality for little over a pound:

Expecto patronum t shirt:

My daughter will love these figures as Voldemort, her favourite character, is included:

Thanks, great ideas. She has the griffyndor quidditch hoodie which is lovely. Marauders map looks good. And the lego figures.

I bought my niece (11) a golden snitch necklace which opened and had a clock inside. I think it was from Etsy
Anyhow she loved it!

That film book was the absolute best Harry Potter thing we ever bought. If it's still in print it is amazing

Potter Film Wizardry (Revised and expanded) ink{ book here}

Thanks for the M&co PJ recommendation. I've just ordered the HP PJs and a hoody. They have 25% off and free delivery at the moment too.

Thanks to Popmimiboo and Boisderose for the Film Wizardry book recommendations. Have just purchased from Amazon. My 6 year old will love it!

We got quidditch uniform pyjamas that DD loved from eBay (they're supposedly boys' pyjamas but quidditch isn't just a boys game, right?)

I got DD a gorgeous colouring book from waterstones.

SuperPug Sat 29-Oct-16 21:23:03

Creature Vaults book in The Works and possibly another "collection" book there as well, significantly cheaper than Waterstones.
If you are in London/ Cambridge- shop with Harry Potter stuff on Platform 9 3/4 and lots of stuff in Heffer's, Cambridge.

The film book is absolutely incredible.

The shop at 'Platform Nine and Three Quarters' at Kings Cross has nice charms for bracelets, either cheapo ones or gorgeous silver ones which are quite £££. They also have good prints.

The Works sell tiny glass bottles. If it would appeal to your DD, you could get some of those plus tiny beads, ribbons, food colouring etc so she could make her own potions bottles.

Yes to the colouring books too - they are excellent.

Not Harry Potter but related

Well I've found loads of ideas for birthday and Christmas presents now so thanks very much. grin

popmimiboo could you link to the Ravenclaw pjs - they'd be perfect for dd (also 14, also Ravenclaw). I've only found primark shorty ones which really aren't the thing for Christmas!

I've got very cute Owl Post earrings from ebay for dd's stocking so far.

If anyone can recommend a good bone china HP mug that is a bit more original than just a house crest, do let me know - I've looked at the various Grim ones on Etsy etc, but I think they're all just painted on with ceramic pen, and I'm pretty sure the designs won't last.

The lego harry potter board game is fantastic.

TheHighPriestessOfTinsel Sun 30-Oct-16 08:22:48

Marking place!

PigletWasPoohsFriend Sun 30-Oct-16 08:26:30

Primark has quite a few bits.

Ah this thread is just what I was looking for!
DS (7) has just got onto HP in a big way. I've ordered the illuminating wand and was going to check out the shop at King's cross when I go in a couple of weeks to see the Cursed Child (had to get that in - I'm do very excited!)

Anyone been to the shop? Is it a bit pricey though? Am I better getting stuff somewhere else?

Partic want to get gryffindor robes - any suggestions for not totally rubbish quality yet not bank breaking cist?
