DD turns 2 a few weeks before Christmas & am in need of ideas for both occasions.

We're thinking about getting a play shop for one but no idea for the other. Ideally we want things that'll last her throughout the following year. Doesnt have to be big - could be a few smaller items.

She is DC2 so we already have playhouse & small cooker, easel, trampoline, balance bike (although too big atm), happyland, duplo etc all handed down from DS. She's also already got a baby & pushchair.

Any suggestions welcomed!

Books are a really good gift. Some lovely books for her age if you don't have already include:
The Tiger Who Came to Tea
Peepo
The Lulu series

Kiddizoom camera? Dd same age loves pretending to take photos. A big selection of craft stuff? Consumables so won't take up lots of space (see my thread on alternatives to 'stuff' !) Agree with books. DD still loves all her 'that's not my' books whilst ds wasn't remotely interested at that age!

Scooter? Dd loves her micro scooter and is still using the d handlebar until she's big enough for the proper ones.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Meringue - hadn't thought about books! we have a few of the Lulu books already (which she loves) but not the other two so will def look those out.

Funny you should mention kiddizoom Misty9. DS got his out today for the first time in ages - DD loved it! So would probably enjoy one of her own.
Ooh...scooter - fab idea, she really loves anything that moves so pretty sure that'd be a hit.

Gizmo hope this is some help for you Smile.

Keep em coming folks!

Other ideas for books
Dave's breakfast blast off
The dinosaur who pooped christmas
The little princess series by Tony Ross
Mog books
Kipper
the fairytale hairdresser
Keith the cat in the magic hat
Barry the fish with fingers

We love books here!

Other things dd's loved at 2 and enjoyed for a long time!
Puppet theatre with finger puppets
Leapfrog picnic basket
Fisher price teaset
Pull along wagon (a cheap character one from the entertainer)
ELC rosies world dolls and car (like a smaller child version of barbie)
Dressing up costumes
Paw patroller, the vehicles & pups.
Busy books - normally £5 in supermarkets have a book, 12 figures and playmat. Lots of characters available :)

We got DD1 a farm for her second birthday. Three months on she is still playing with it every day with no sign of slowing down. We are really pleased with it, and all the bits fit inside and the sides fold up so it's a great portable toy for stays away from home too.

I'm making a home made dressing up box (hats, dresses, necklaces etc rather than proper outfits) for my daughter.

It was baby mania for DD at that age, so a bag of baby accessories would be a good buy - bottle, bib, comb etc.

Playdoh would be good too. With the implements, cutters etc.

Franny- we did your idea and just to say the ELC sets go very well with the Asda dolls house and saves you a fortune too. It's been a big hit over the last 18 months and one of the most popular toys when friends come round too- very robust!

Watching this thread as DD is 23m on Christmas day. DH and I have different views over whether she'll be old enough for a toy kitchen then
