Any ideas for our 91 year old nan.
We live with her and care for her. She can only get out of bed for short periods so spends all her time in her bedroom. She has a sound mind though. For her birthday we got her a big collage picture frame and put pics in of all the family. Space is an issue so nothing big. She enjoys watching tv but not dvds/music. Her eyesight isnt great so no books. She enjoys knitting but has practically everything. Her daughter does her hair so no pamper days. Id like to get her something special but i have absolutely no idea Confused

How about a nice new fleecy blanket?

Or a cushion with a printed photograph?

Bed jacket.
Nice wool.
Knitting Needle case - if she doesn't have.
Nice bamboo needles.
One of those big magnifyers on a stand.
Jigsaw tray.
Tray with cushion underneath.
Adopt a cat/dog/donkey/hedgehog.
Anything from the Coopers of Stortford catalogue - my youthful 70 something parents love it, as it seems do many other older people.

Can kindles be changed to large font - might work for her spending on visual difficulty?

Either lovely fragrant bath/hand wash/ body butter/ whatever type of stuff she can use?
Or perfume or cosmetics, if she still uses them?
Or comestibles - nice chocolates or biscuits, or teas or jams if she's in to them. Or Baileys or similar , if she still likes the occasional drink?
If she's pretty much bed-bound, a lovely nightie might be nice? Perhaps a white cotton broderie anglais one (which is what I imagine I would want, in these circumstances).
Good luck to you all. You sound lovely!

An Audible account. My blind DM loves hers.

A photo book of where she grew up with photos and commentary from 1920s-1950s. This has been a big hit with dm, although she keeps forgetting where it came from and thinks someone has lent it to her. Although she can't read too well now she enjoys peering at the pictures. Might look into the magnifying glass for her. Thanks.

My late nana loved her digital photo frame, we filled it with old and new photos, she would just watch it for ages.

She also used to love having a mobile nail technician come and paint her nails and loved showing them off to visitors.

Yes I was going to suggest someone coming in to do a manicure and maybe a hand massage on her?

Got MIL a personal CD player (you've still get them) and some audio books. That was a hit.

I buy my mum luxury treats now. London Marshmallow Company. Agnes D'sucre boxes of macaroons etc. She has everything now. At least the food gets eaten
